RE: ticks?!?!?!?!!?

lol. this is making my stomach curl lol. my mom just called the doc and got me some prevenative medicine for lime, so that clears my mind but still, i know ill have them eating at me in the middle of the night. im about to light myself on fire (lol, j/k). i wish they were the bigger ones so i could see them better. but yea, im positive they are ticks. i need to have my girl check my real good tonight, and i wil her. i just pulled two off some really sensitive skin lol. i didnt think there were this many in maryland lol. i must have ran directly into a nest. im not sure if they are just small ticks species, or babiy ticks of a larger, regular species. whatever they are, they got my blood pumpin (prob. b/c they are sucking it lol). is that permone or whatever very strongly scented? could i wear it on stand? this sucks

im from MD. o i can gauruntee they are in my truck. i have leather and dont want to spray that. maybe ill just vaccuum real well, and hope to get as many as possible. i mean, i wish i would have a pic of them on mine and my girls leg, it was unbeleivable. at first we thought they were tiny ants because of how many there was. lol i jus bought my truck few months back, what a nice addition to my new truck they are. now i know why hunting is in the winter lol. i have never seen this many in my whole life, combined. usually i will pick off 2-3, but this was 2-3 thousand, and i am not over exagerating lol.

I wouldn't put permanone on your bare skin, it's mainly for outer clothing....but it will kill them on contact. (I would spray it in your truck!)

Just play Brad Paisley's song in the background when you guys check each other for ticks...It could turn out to be pretty romantic.:D

I've never seen seed ticks, nor do I want to.

What you've got to worry about down here is mainly deer ticks and CHIGGERS...

I hate chiggers... [:@]

the best thing to do this time of year is to treat your pants with permanone.

Haha, funny you should post this. I just got home from scouting and had the same thing all over me. I bring along 2 sets of clothes when scouting this early in the season.

Just 2 hours ago I looked down and saw the "nest" crawling all over me. I go back to the truck, pull my clothes/boots off and throw those in the back of the truck. Then I pick off as many as I can and put on my other clothes. Go home and scrub like hell in the shower. The joys of being a sportsman.

And yes, there will be a lot in your vehicle. Have fun checking each other for ticks.:D

Just found this.

‘Seed Ticks’ Don’t Exist
MANHATTAN, Kan. – "Seed ticks" are a case of mistaken identity, not an actual tiny pest.
"Basically, they’re the larval stage of any tick species," said Kansas State University entomologist Ludek Zurek. "In Kansas, that primarily means seed ticks are the larvae of lone star ticks."
As such, they deserve the same respect as their disease-transmitting parents.
"Lone star ticks – one of the most common species in Kansas – need a blood meal in every growth stage except the eggs," Zurek said. "Unlike most ticks, lone stars can and will bite people when they’re larvae and nymphs, as well as adults."

looks like i got a long night aheada me. ducsauce - were they the realllllllllll small ones, i mean almost invisible. i would rather have the larger ones, atleast i can see them. i mean i must have hit the motherload ya know, THOUSANDSSSSSSS lol. i hope they dont carry lime. i heard the small ones can carry it. i leanred my lesson ,that was my first time scoutin this year and wont go back without shorts. lol, my girl had on flip flops and boxer shorts, i just called her and she said her sister just pulled off like 10 of them. freaking nuisances. i jus want to get home and check realllllll good for them, i wish i could leave work now. lol. i just felt something crawling around "downtown" and was prayiiiiiinnnggggg that when i looked, it was just an itch or something, well low and behold it was the demon bug. they are probably having a feast on me. do they crawl into you skin? or jus sit there and suck the blood. each time i pull one off, and i do mean PULLLLLLL,it leaves a damn red mark. i didnt even see this many while turkey hunting. does anyone know about when they start to die off? will i still be seein alot in early bow season (SEPT 15)?
