Even if you wait until the deer is in range/position you may still have to hold if it makes a sudden turn where they no longer present a clean shot.
Get that pin on the spot and get rid of the arrow. Getting on target and the shot off quick is something else that needs to be practiced, and few people do it. Three seconds or less. That's all it should take from the time you hit anchor to get the pin on target and release the arrow.

Oh I have a clue dude... It's called cutting your teeth on pressured whitetails... Now go scout from your truck over your green fields

You've been watching too many TV hunters. Drawing back and holding for 10 minutes while waiting for the deer to move on in, ragged breathing into the microphone, close up of the finger tightening on the release to heighten the suspense of the moment and all the while the dramatic music plays in the background, quickening to a climactic crescendo.... Hollywoooood!
This is an excellent example of why I refuse to draw until the deer is in range and in position. Draw, aim, shoot. Bing, bing, bing. Just like that.

I draw, aim, and shoot.Bing, bing, bing, just like you. I never draw when deer is out of range.

another hunter who hunts only public land, with a lot of common misconceptions. Sorry Longbeard, you just don't have a clue.
