I know that your suppose to bend at the waist if your standing and shooting from a tree stand but what if your setting down and shoot ? Just wondering cause last yearI shot a small buck while setting and hit him high in the spine although it did drop him in his tracks. Maybe just a bad shot or do I need to bend at the waist. Also what is the correct position of your feet to the target? I face more toward the target but my son's feet are about 90 degrees? Thanks PK

Yes, even sitting down you should bend at the waist when shooting out of an elevated stand. If you don't, you will not get the same draw and back tension as on level ground and therefore, you will hit higher. As for feet position, it is OK to have a 90 degree stance or a slightly open stance if you are consistant in your form. If you are shooting an arm eater and there are not a lot of them out there anymore, an open stance will move the string away from your arm more than you realize.

keep your anchor points the same and you will hit the same. if that means bending at the waist, then bend at the waist. just make sure your anchor points are the same...
and get out there and practice from your stand. practice sitting..practice standing...practice kneeling down as if you were walking to your stand and caught one walking towards you. i practice everything i can think of that might happen in the field. my mom thinks im sitting in a lawn chair and shooting because im lazy...i do it because it would be the same as sitting in my stand and shooting...i do it from the ground and the pool deck. always just maintain your anchor points and youll be good
