If this gets removed i understand, but i have to take these pain pills to pretty much live with my back pain, and taking one makes you sorta loopy... do you think its a bad idea to take one before i go out hunting?

Depends how "loopy" you get, if you cant tell a deer from a person or any other animal it would be really dangerous and really stupid, my dad is in the same position as you. i would suggest trying to bear it out or get something that isnt as strong.

I'm thinking this question is much better suited to your Doctor.

I dealt with some back pain last season and was in a similar situation. I went back to my doctor and got a script for a higher dose of Ibuprofen. Stronger than the stuff you buy at the store. It was like 800mg. Worked great as a pain killer without the loopiness. But my pain was just muscle related. If you have more severe issues this may not work for you. The only downside was that they didn't seem to work much longer than 4 hrs and when it wore off I could tell right away.

Heres the deal..

I have scoliosis (spelling) and its right inbetween my shoulderblades, i have it very high, so my muscels on the left side are always stretched... and i hurt them accidently during a hockey game, since then i have to take one of these little puppies basically one every 6-8 hours... the pain is bad but i sorta live around it... As far as loopieness goes, i can tell what everything is but everything is funny to me. so like sitting in a treestand i prolly wouldnt sit very still all the time... idk its sorta just an odd situation

I am sorry that you have the pain that you are speaking about, and I hope you will heal or become better! I would say that loopy and tree stands shouldn't be in the same thought. If you are influenced as to stability or depth perception you could really hurt yourself. Also what about your vision and your ability to aim?
It really is a question for your doctor. If you are getting airborne than please make sure your attached to the tree from the ground up.

If the meds make you loopy, then I would either do without or stay home. With back problems, the last thing you need is to fall out of a tree stand, fall down a ravine, or do something really nasty to yourself with your weapon.

I have had 3 neck surgeries, and it looks like they will go after my low back next, but not without a fight. I don't like taking the pain meds either, but sometimes I have no choice(my wife makes me). You could try breaking one of the prescription-strength pills in half and taking it with a tylenol or ibuprofen.
