Past Champs (stay in touch thread)
 

I've been asked by several guys about a past champs thread. Many of the guys on the Elite 8 and XX would like to stay in touch without having to wade through our now huge 45 team thread or sending pms to find each other...so here it is guys. Current Champs Team 17, you guys are past and present so fill feel free to pop in here too...

Post away past champs....and oh.....Dont the past champs Elite 8 and XX team have a side bet going????

Good thread Troy.
I thought we were up against bros b4 does, but we'll take on all comers, we aint skeered.

Less than a month here before I can start whacking does. Going to try some new areas during that time, well I should say old areas that I don't usually hunt too often. The longbow will make its debut during that time.

It's nice to be a part of the first champs. I like a side bet of who will be the first to repeat on top again. I feel real good about the team this year. Of course I always like my chances going in every year!

Hey Troy and Rybo, how you guys been? Long time no hear. Less than 3 weeks for me. Will be heading out this weekend to hang stands, (actually I leave them out all year, so I will just be trimming some lanes, and checking them over). Good Luck to you both this year, I cant wait, but its not going to be the same without the old XX!

I'm on team 39. I saw some really nice bucks early in the summer. All does and fawns lately. The farmers are preparing to get the corn shelled, so I should get a better idea of whats lurking in the next couple of weeks.

I'm not sure how it works but you might be able to subscribe to the post and keep track of it better.


I'm still shooting & did some hot weather scouting today. I bought a dvd about shooting my longbow and its seems to be real good, and has ease some of my confidence issues. I got 3 weeks till I cna break it in on some does.

My ... MY... you must learn to move on in life. LOL Do you still stay in touch with your gym class dodge ball team.[8D] You're on a different team I take it this year. Does that mean that next year you won't talk to them at the end of the season or will you drop your team from last year? What oh what will you do in 3 or 4 years. You'll either make a lot of people mad or the board will be full of Team XYZ threads.[&:]

Man, I got NO woods time this weekend. Burned the whole weekend at a wedding... Rehearsal, photos, ceremony, reception, hotel... The whole nine yards.

I did get out to shoot yesterday afternoon - stopped and picked up my 07 broadheads. Opening day can't come soon enough.

At least it's finally football season, so that helps keep me sidetracked a lil bit. Caged up in this office... hmph.

Hey Troy - what's BSU gonna do this year? I say Ian Johnson is a sleeper for the Heisman.

I love this time of Year when everyone is getting ready for the upcomming season Andforthe bowhunting Contest. I love being a part of anynew team. Talkingand getting to know other members on the teama little better.

Ry - I was gonna do the early doe season, but every stinkin' Saturday is jammed. Trying to score some brownie points with the wife and get some stuff done before I go October AWOL. However, if I can get a tag OTC at the Westmoreland courthouse, I'll do that, and definitely get out at least oneor twoweeknight evenings. The two Saturdays of early doe are already booked withactivities(Penn State game, Cookout).

Hockey season ends on 9/9, so that will free up my Sundays. We'll have to get out to Ohio and scope it out.

Troy - good luck man.

So when does everybody start hunting? PA/OH kicks off on the last Saturday of September. One month to go...

Hey all you old champs..good luck this season! I started my morning off with a couple elk and then had to jam to work..no whitetails..but it was great to be out hunting again!

early archery(special units)for doe onlyis sept 15. Regular archery(buck or doe)season is sept 29.

October 1st here. I'm breaking out the shotgun for dove season this weekend. Sunday will be my oldest son's first time carrying a gun during dove season, so I'm pretty excited.:)

Good luck this Sunday Dave. Shoot every dove you can find. Those suckers scare the bejeesus out of me when I'm walking the corn fields and they take off. You guys will have a blast, just be careful not to get out-shot by the first-timer.

Thinking about this is makin' me wanna go dove hunting. Hell, thinking about anything makes me wanna go tromp around in the woods. Weird how that works...

Hey guys, not much going on with me other than rain and wind![:@] Altho last Sunday I went out in the pooring rain, and I saw 1 little 4 point, 8 does, 1 nice shooter buck, and then right at dark, I had a nice wide 6 point and a 5 point in the corn right behind me. Didnt have any shots tho, but it was still a great night.
On another great note, I have such a great boss. We are just getting ready to get crazy busey here at work, but we have been sitting around for the past 3 weeks with nothing to do. So anyways, he comes over today and tells us all to take the rest odf the week off, with pay!!So, for the next 3 days, I am free to hunt as much as I want.

Darren - that's awesome buddy. My boss is nice, but not that nice. LOL Good luck Chief.

It's only the 4th day of the season here - been out every day at least for a couple hours. So far, my logbook shows 16 deer, 6 buck and 2 that I would've shot, had an opportunity presented. I'm sure that I won't keep that pace, but so far, so good. I'll be back after it tonight, but it's hotter than a June bride in a feather bed.

Rybo's is it going to be happy holloween again this year? At what point do you start hunting your bucks? Your mostly focusing on does right now...correct?

I've got a couple days off here to regroup before the season opens back up. I have some stands to move, others to set up for the pre-rut and a few more ground blinds to make. I have a couple other areas I have to get in and scout some more this week as well. I am actually enjoying a few days off to regroup and get ready for the onslot of rifles.

Yes my focus is on does at the moment. If I can get one more with the wheels, then the focus will be doe with longbow. Depite the heat, I'm going to give it a good go round this friday & saturday and I'm pretty confident to get a shot. I'll start focusing on bucks around Oct 25, UNLESS I catch sight of a shooter sooner and think I can peg him. Doubtful that I will.

I have not been out much yet... but will be out with my ThermaCell in the morning. Everyone says they work great... we will see. rain, and 80 deg. I am guessing the skeeters will be in full force.

I hear you, it usually takes me 3-4 years to get a couple thousand acre area slightly understood.. but its fun..

I've hunted one piece 6 years, the other 3, (new home area) the third just startingthis summer and the other my old stomping ground I grew up in since I was 12. Theres a fifth area but I cant justify traveling the75 miles right now when its as good at home.. gas prices and time..

Hey guys..

I got out last night ..and once last weekend..mostly just catching up on "winter prep" firewood, storage stuff etc..

I am back after it full bore after tonights basketball camp I am coaching at is over...

I have an elk tag and two whitetail tags to hunt for.. Looking forward too it.. Making my plans for ND this week.. too... looking at flights..I cant wait to get out and hnt with Tim and Tyler..

dropped my buck and springer bearoff at the Taxidermist.. thanks for the kind words guys on my buck.. you guys are awesome!
