After all this talk about scent control, and elimination, I started thinking. Now, maybe its been a long day/night but okay...here is my question:

So when you wash your clothes in the same washing machine as EVERY other single load, even though your using some sort of scent free wash, isn't there going to be still some foreign scent left from other detergents?

Just thinking outloud. Like I said, long day.

You are completely correct..........that is what makes the whole scent free game kinda funny.

There is always gonna be residue of some kind ina washer unless you have one dedicated to your hunting clothes.

A household dryer has lint, fabric softener and all kinds of other stuff in it as well.

Not to mention how many people worry endlessly about their body and totally forget their bow, arrows, quiver, etc. I was offered the chance to sniff the limb grease used on a new Mathews bow one time when at a shop that had the bow taken down. The smell was unbelievably strong (to me).............anyone toting that bow into the woods thinking he is scent free is sadly mistaken

Makes me wonder how many people actually do this, not many, I bet.

I've come to realize, recently, that there is no true way to remain totally scent free. I just need one of these...wrapped in scent lok, of course.

I always run a load through the washer void of clothing with a good bit of scent free detergent before actually throwing my clothes in.

I know this doesn't completely rid the washer of the other detergent smells, but it definitely [read; probably] knocks it down a bit.

As for the dryer, I throw a fresh earth fabric softener sheet in there and it definitely comes out smelling like dirt. Throw it directly into a Rubbermaid container with fresh earth and pine wafers and I'm smelling like a forest when I get dressed.

Dan, I too run a load (sometimes two) before washing my clothes. And agree it knocks it down.

I usually hang dry my clothes though.

Then into a container with an assortment of "good stuff": Pine Needles, oak leaves etc. try to cut down on how much poison ivy I throw in; however.

I have tossed localfoliage in with my hunting clothes for years. Can't hurt tosmell like the tree you sit in.
