A Big Thank You Bowtech
Last Friday night I had the pleasure to meet Jay Fondren a Dissabled Vet from Iraq who was blown up by a road side bomb.
I was asked if I would set up aGuardian that was given to him by Bowtech, thank you for your support of our troops. What does one say when asked such a question except hell yeah it is my pleasure to do that for some one who put it all on the line and paid a heavy price so I can sleep safe at night and do the things I love to do. After setting the bow up I had young Jay come to the Bowtech trailer on Saturday morning where I spent a lot of time showing him how to shoot the bow and the wide eyed look and grin from ear to ear when he took that first shot brought tears to my eyes. Jay is an outstanding young man full of life even tho his was nearly taken. During the course of the Texas Trophy Hunters Extravaganza I spent a lot of time with Jay and arranging a few little surprises for him including a hog hunt at the Sycamore Creek Hog Hunting Ranch, thank you Troy and Lisa for doing this for Jay. We will be taking Jay on his first bow hunt Sept. 21/22 along with a film crew so every moment can be caught for Jay to relive over and over, I just hope I can hold my emotions in check when he sticks his first hog;) But in all honesty non of this would not have eventuated without Bowtech stepping up to the plate and giving him the Guardian great job to all those at Bowtech for making that happen. Thank You BOWTECH You have made a young mans dreams come true Here is a pic of me handing Jay his new Guardian all set up ready to shoot for the first time. ![]() |

RE: A Big Thank You Bowtech
Wow, what a cool story!!!! It is nice to see companies step up and do the right thing, way to go Bowtech!!!!
Jay paid a large price to ensure our freedom and this is one neat way to give something back to him. I know it is very small in comparison to the sacrifice he gave, but we need to show the upmost respect for our soldiers. :) |
RE: A Big Thank You Bowtech
First and foremost I'll echo what everyone else has said, Thank you Jay, and God bless all of the men and women serving this country, past and present.
Thank you Bowtech for doing something rarely seen by any company these days, supporting our troops. That makes me even happier with the bow choice I made, as well as encouraging me to promote their products to other people. Russel, you seem like a class act all the way and I think you did something really special. Thank you too. We need more threads like these on this board and others. |
RE: A Big Thank You Bowtech
Thanks Jay, no words can ever repay you for what you have given all of us, and thanks to thousands of other soldiers as well. Thanks for stepping up Aussie-guy, and also thanks to Bowtech, I knew there was a reason I bought that Guardian this year : )

RE: A Big Thank You Bowtech
The blessings didn't go without coming back to us (me and Ausie). We also met a lady that is going to let us hunt exotics anytime we want for free. Major General Leroy Sisco who is now associated with Texas Trophy Hunters and Hunts for Hero's wants to tag along with a film crew.
This was truly a blessed week end for all of us. This is me and the General. He is truly an awesome person. ![]() |
RE: A Big Thank You Bowtech
Wow. Now I'm really sorry I couldn't make it to the extravaganza. It would have been an honor to meet Jay. I have met Ausie several times and now have a newfound respect for him. And if you think he is ugly in that pic, well, I've walked up to him in the woods. It was the scariest moment of my life!

RE: A Big Thank You Bowtech
Jay was a part of the Show of Support held each year in Midland. This is not an advertisement but I wanted to let you all know that you can go to our web site at www.showofsupport.org and see pictures of Jay's first deer kill after being wounded in Iraq. We hope to be able to put a new picture up of his first bow kill.I want to say a big thanks to Bowtech and all the guys there that made this possible. I know that words can not even describe what Jay is feeling. I was one of those guys wounded in combat and I have to say that we NEVER expected to have things like this given to us. It is just amazing. I got so much joy seeing Jay that night with his bow and a smile that went from ear to ear. He left it out on the table for all to see. I missed the first shot as I was at my booth, but I heard it was amazing to see him standing and shooting. I will be the guy out there with the video camera for this next hunt and I hope to have some great video to share.Thank you again to all of you and thanks to the rest of your support for the Military. If you do not believe in the war that is one thing, but every American should support the military and the guys from Bowtech gave more support that anyone ever expected. Thank you so much.
