Default sighting in my bow

i have a stupid question i had my bow sighted in at the pro shop i bought it from a year and a half ago and i did not hunt last year so just shots at 20 yards or so when they sighted it in it was set at 20 30 and 40.
they had me shoot it in at 20 yards then set the 30 pin and 40 pin off of that

but when they installed my peep they got my string twisted and i am worried if they were that stupid then are my pins set right or can you set the sight the way they did my proplem is i have no where that i can shoot up to 40 yards with out just being in a field some where there is a indoor range that goes out to 25 so what should i do to make sure my sight or set correctly

You want the truth or do you want some BS. As I understand it you sighted in a 20 yard pin, right? Then they did some kind of black magic to set a 30 and 40 yard pin, right?

Well, it doesn't happen that way in the real world. If you are using a pin sight then you have to sight in each individual pin for the yardage of your choice. Guessing where to put them doesn't get it. And for those pins to be set the right place YOU have to do all the shooting.

That's the plain and simple truth.

It's up to you to sight them in.

BGfisher, to be honest with you. I've set so many bows up that I can tell you that once a 20 yard pin is set, I can set a 30 and a 40 yard pin off of it and they will be dead on. I know, I've seen me do it.

Anyway, You are right, each individual pin needs set for elevations. Your windage, left/right will be exact if the pins are the same lengths. Some pins adjust individually as far as windage goes.

I'm sure they are darn close, a minor/slight up or down will get you there.

Good luck.

Letting someone else sight your bow in is like having someone else drive your car and then tell you how is handles and feels.....sight the Bow in yourself, you may hold it differently, your draw length will be different and if you miss a nice big Buck you can't go back and tell the Archery Shop that "They"missed! I am going to be honest with you here and tell you to forget about the 40 yard pin and farther for now.Take your 20 yard pin, fine tune it till the arrows are hitting where you want them(arrow hits high, raise the pin, arrow hit low, lower the pin, etc)
Practice makes perfect and dont have anyone else set the bow for you,its a personal thing and once your form is correct and the pin is hitting where you want consistently then practice at 30-40 and farther if desired
