yeah... this guy is definitely a gar. I don't know what kind; looks like a long nose gar to me, but everyone else is saying alligator gar. Could be an alligator gar; like I said I don't know what kind of gar.

Thanks for identifying this for me. At least now I know it won't climb up the tree and eat me while I'm hunting.

Fox, tell me you threaded an arrow through the small one in the second piccool pics.

Yep,I did.

Look closely at the pics, you can see the string in the second pic and in the first,it is hanging from the string but you can't see it.

The arrow had to go through it sideways so the head wouldn't cut it in half.Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.Imagine,I won smallest gar that weekend.

I also shot a quail out of the air once, and I had witnesses.[8D]

Gar are cool to see. We got a bunch of spotted and long-nosed in NE Indiana.

When we were younger and we would catch a Gar on our cane poles we would put a stick in its mouth and let it go....did I mention I hate Gar's...long nosed or alligator! [:@][:-]

....did I mention I hate Gar's...
Picture for you then.

One night's bowfishing results from a lake with a serious gar over-population issue. (No longnose, all shortnose and spotted. Some carp and buffs too)

(ready for the bbq!) [8D]
