I have a bit of a situation
Me and my buddy are still in school and have gotten to hunt on the same land for 3 or 4 years now and last year the guy who owned the property bordering ours through a fit because we harvested one of his bucks and so now he's critasizing (sp) everything we do because our trail cameras aren't cuddebacks and our boots are the wrong brand "we're ganna scare away the deer for good" he says. This guy has called the cops because he said we were on his land (which we were not even close to).(not accusing him) but we have had ground blinds stolen and as far as we know he is the only other person we know that has been out there. In a normal situation i would just stop hunting there for a year but the way my classes are set up, the land is real close to school and i want to be able to go out there when i am able to. I have tried to calmly talk to him but he is real stuck up. I am not sure what to do. I think my only two options are to stick it out or see if i can find somewhere else to hunt. Thoughts?

RE: I have a bit of a situation
I wouldn't pay any attention to him! Just don't do anything dumb on your part. As long as you don't do anything wrong just ignore him.

RE: I have a bit of a situation
Oh and another thing why does it matter what brand of stuff you use?
|
RE: I have a bit of a situation
Sometimes my fellow bowhunters embarrass me.....what the hell is wrong with people. Talk with your landowner, explain the situation and continue what you are doing. Good luck.

RE: I have a bit of a situation
like said earlier just ignore him...if you dont do anything wrong...he cant do anything to you...and take your pop up blinds in when you go in
|
RE: I have a bit of a situation
I would hunt it, it doesn't sound like there is anything you can do about it, some people just like to stir up crap.

RE: I have a bit of a situation
yeh and dont even think it was "his" deer. keep huntin, i hunt all the land around my house except about a 10acre track that belongs to a real hateful couple, i even asked them to hunt knowin the answer would be no, he didnt even let me finish my sentence and started in about nobody should hunt around there too many houses, all this crap, just ingnored him and didnt change a thing about my huntin.

RE: I have a bit of a situation
DO NOT LET THIS GUY RUN YOU OFF......you have every right to be there, just as well as he does on his own property...the deer are not fenced in, and he knows that...hes just trying to run you off and it seems like hes almost won the battle....if you think hes a theif, set up a blind and hide a camera, and catch him in the act....that'll stop the non-sense...guarentee it....that's a pet peeve of mine...people who are not property owners, who are not leasing, who don't have permission, and yet they think they have all the hunting rights....[:'(]

RE: I have a bit of a situation
Don't let him know you are in there be sneaky, do not leave any evidence that you are still hunting in the area.
|
RE: I have a bit of a situation
bowhunters should never be seen by deer or people in the woods.
|
RE: I have a bit of a situation
Dont let this ignorant jerk bully you around. I've never had this problem, but I do hear about it alot. It wasnt "his buck." He owns the land... not what lives on it. There are plenty of deer that travel inbetween mine and my neighboring property and plenty that stay on mine. That buck you shot is yours because you shot it legally. The 6pt. thats on my wall traveled neighboring property and mine... and it wasnt mine until I harvested it.
Oh yeah... if this guy has smart remarks, just make some smart remarks back. IALWAYS respect my elders, but people like this I just can't respect. |
RE: I have a bit of a situation
Taht's the best idea yet , get him on Camera set-up to catch him taking stuff . Then play him at his own game and get the cops on him . you have the proof and he looks like an A$$ . And because he does'nt know where camera is he should stay away .
Oh and if your kit works , then its good enough for the job ( he's a materialistic ponse ) . ORIGINAL: So. Ohio Outfitters DO NOT LET THIS GUY RUN YOU OFF......you have every right to be there, just as well as he does on his own property...the deer are not fenced in, and he knows that...hes just trying to run you off and it seems like hes almost won the battle....if you think hes a theif, set up a blind and hide a camera, and catch him in the act....that'll stop the non-sense...guarentee it....that's a pet peeve of mine...people who are not property owners, who are not leasing, who don't have permission, and yet they think they have all the hunting rights....[:'(] |
RE: I have a bit of a situation
Iwould talk to the land owner to see if you could put up no trespassing signs and do that along the property. ANd then forget him It wasn't his buck in the first place thats why its called freerange hunting. But put the signs up and then if you catch him on the property talk to the land onwner and have him prosecuted. Get some cameras with no flash and hang them up real high in a tree where you think he is coming across and that would be great evidence especially if it showed him carrying one of your ground blinds out.

RE: I have a bit of a situation
Be sure to watch what you do when hunting there and be sure not to do any "Baiting" if it isn't allowed in your state or do anything illegal to get yourself in trouble....that kind of neighbor is just hoping and waiting for you to screw up so you loose your hunting priviledges and can't hunt in the surrounding farm land.
As far as you shooting "His Deer" he can own the land but the Wildlife is state property that is goverend by the laws of that State.....some people can get so caught up in greed about hunting deer they will stoop to all kinds of crap to make life miserable for other Hunters.:eek:[:@] |
RE: I have a bit of a situation
Thanks guys. I went out today and put a trail cam high up pointed at my ground blind.

RE: I have a bit of a situation
You and your buddy look him square in the eye and tell him you have premission to hunt there. Tell him you don't go on his property and any deer that is on the land you hunt is fair game. If he harrasses you again call the police on him and do it every time he does. Or and I don't know how your bent, you could just loosen up his girly man grill for him. Last option ofcourse.
