nobody wants to tackle this one?i thought for sure that lots of people would have their own thoughts on what we would be shooting ten years into the future.

This subject was discussed last year on the Tech forum with some insights from shop owners and other insiders. I don't know what the capabilities of the search tool are, but you may be able to go back far enough to find the thread. I think one thing that has come out recently is Merlin's revolutionary new limbs. The concept seems awesome. Ask Pinwheel12 or Len in Maryland about those. There are lots of folks on that forum that could give you some really good info on new products/processes.

Hopefully the capabilities of the bow will plateau out. If they turn into 100 yard shooting sticks ....then I will hunt with a traditional. I hunt with my bow because I want to get close. 100 yard shots are not close. I am 32 and still have a great deal to learn about the compounds I shoot, but as I grow older I become more and more interested in the traditional bows. I would like to live around or know someone who has one. I would even like to learn how to build my own. I have great repect for the fellas that build their own bows and arrows and hunt with them.

I'm guessing there will be smaller and faster bows on the market. But being able to shoot longer shots than now, I doubt much. Technology may help with accuracy, but won't help with skill.

I don't think we will see much in the way of speed. Most manufactures have comented on this. They may be able to get a bit more but at sacrifices. Alot of the bows out now could be faster, but they would be harder to shoot and would not last very long. I think you will see a trend towards bows that are more effecient and smoother to shoot.

I'm with shed on this one. If they start shooting out to 100 freakin' yards then I'll definitely go traditional which is actually what I am going to try to do next year. 100 yards is gun range.

I don't think the manufacturers will bring out much more speed. In fact, I believe they will maintain the speeds they are putting out now, but figure out how to get them with more accurate, milder drawing and more comfortable shooting bows. They might even back off the speed some.
With some renewed interest in field archery, I also foresee the return of longer axle to axle bows (44-48"
with high brace heights.
