Has this arrow had it?
I hit the nock on this arrow and it splintered the shaft the splinter is about 1 mm wide and thinner than a piece of paper. No other damage done thats visible. I shot this arrow 3 times before noticing the splinter. Do you think its junk or will it be OK. Pic is kinda blurry.

RE: Has this arrow had it?
I'd scrap it. Its just an arrow.

RE: Has this arrow had it?
K. just thought Id make sure it was junk. arrows arent cheap but the bill for an ER visit is a little more expensive than one arrow. I didnt know if such a small splinter mattered, thats why I asked. Thanks.

RE: Has this arrow had it?
Take a look at GooseHunters hand pictures in the previous post "With the seasons drawing close" and ask yourself if you should chance using the arrow?I wouldn't use it in case it gets a stress crack in it and eventually it splits apart on you and it sticks through the side of your hand! :(:([&:]

RE: Has this arrow had it?
I saw his pics the other day and have checked my arrows after litterally every shot. The small splinter was overlooked 3 times, but not 4. Im scared to have something like that happen. Im pretty sure Im allergic to pain.

RE: Has this arrow had it?
If it is long enough, cut the shaft from the backend untill ALL the splinter is gone and refletch and use it as a practice arrow.
If it isn't,TRASH IT. |
RE: Has this arrow had it?
Its my first season using carbons, I have ICS Hunters, do you consider the arrow good or bad after a pass through on a deer?
|
RE: Has this arrow had it?
How long is it? whats yer draw length? if your going to trash it save it for me.. lol i'll cut it to 25.5 and use it...
|
RE: Has this arrow had it?
DL 26.5 Arrow length 27. Cant be salvaged for me.
|
RE: Has this arrow had it?
My arrow length is 1 inch shorter then my draw and I could still cut more if I wanted to.
|
RE: Has this arrow had it?
how is that? maybe my draw is longer? Im not sure, my bow shop dude set it up for me, he just measured everything, I didnt pay much attention.
|
RE: Has this arrow had it?
Better to be safe than sorry. Besides, your hand won't heal in time for the season to start! And you may shoot your eye out!
|
RE: Has this arrow had it?
Oh Yea, better safe then sorry. I thought it was a little strange about the arow length. My dray is 27.5 and my arrows are shorter then my draw.
|
RE: Has this arrow had it?
after looking at my bow I believe my DL is 28.5
|
RE: Has this arrow had it?
Junk it don't take the chance.
|
RE: Has this arrow had it?
its getting weaker everytime you shoot it and one of these times its just goin to shatter so id say just scap it
|
RE: Has this arrow had it?
donate it to someone with a shorter draw and have it cut and refletched for their size .
Someone like a young archer would be be very happy to use it . For yourself it is not worth the risk |
RE: Has this arrow had it?
Thank god they still make alliminum arrows;) You guys got my Autumn orange arrows discontinued when they came out with all the fancy camo... It wont be long before the alliminum goes the same way[:'(]

RE: Has this arrow had it?
Trash it. Carbons are great, but when they get a nick, its time to go. Bend test your arrows often to make sure you dont have any hidden cracks. Bend your arrows by hand and listen while you bend. If you hear a creek or any crackling type sound, trash the arrow.

RE: Has this arrow had it?
Was that arrow already bad? I cant figure u shot close enough to do that to ur arrow.
|
RE: Has this arrow had it?
Trash it. Don't take a chance. It isn't worth it.
|
RE: Has this arrow had it?
I would have to say that thing is toast. I wouldnt use it.
