Bow kill in the rain
#1
In talking about fletchings and the effect rain has on them I was wondering how many of you have killed a deer while it was raining or right after it stopped (within 15-30 minutes)? I also thought it would be interesting info on when deer were killed concerning weather.

Awesome! What kind of rain did you other folks kill yours in? I assume it would be extremely difficult to shoot in a downpour but could see it in a drizzle or mist. Is there anything you do differently, shootingwise, in the rain? Does anyone practice in the rain?

I like the slow all day drizzle when it is bitterass cold out, nothing better than the rain/sleet mix.. I will sit in my stand all day long in weather like this no matter what time of year but more apt to do it in the end of Oct and into Nov... Try a all day sitin the rut and you may be suprised especially if it completely misserable outside..

I got a reasonable doe last season on a day with on and off steady rain and moderate wind gusts. My issues with rain is I shoot a primitive longbow and when it gets that wet out I lose power in the limbs- especial hot and wet days so I keep my shots to 20 yards or less. I find that on a day with steady rain deer move less but keep thier heads down more and the rain patter covers up minor noises I might make drawing or shifting.
