Carbon arrows are very much like wood arrows in that you have to check them constantly for cracks. Also, I always wear a thick leather arm guard when I shoot wood arrows. Not so much for protection from the string as protection from a possible busted arrow. I'm about to the point of using the arm guard for carbons as well. With my 55 year old peepers and no reading glasses handy, it's easy for me to miss seeing small cracks. Not good!

Same thing happened to me last year.....the split was right about halfway down and only about a 1/2" long looked like a tiny scratch on the arrow. I got on here and posted about it whether or not I should shoot it. And the forum went mad man. I wont do that anymore, and I thank everyone that pistol wiped me for wanting to shoot it. Lol. Ive seen bows explode with them at full draw but never an arrow shatter and hopefully I wont ever cause I can imagine how bad it can be all that shrapnel in your face and arms. woooo gives me the heeby geebies just thinking about it, youd never get it all out.

This is a trick I've been using for years.

If you crack each of your carbons in the right spot it alters your trajectory causing your arrows to hit 4" high at 25 yards (in my case) do this to all of your arrows and you can really stretch out how far you can shoot before they hit the ground. When shooting parallel to the ground and flat footed I used to get150 yards out of them before they made contact, now I can get 185 yardsout of them before they land.
