Bowhunting clothes for layering........
So let's hear what you guys think are the best clothes for layering underneath your outer layer?
I still haven't made my mind up 100% on an outer layer yet, but am pretty sure I will be buying an outer layer that will require things underneath. I already have a Savanna coverall for when it's really warm, so I am only cocerned at this point with layers that can be used in that 20 to 50 degree range. What layers do you wear for these type of temps? Obviously I can see you changing layers from 20 to 50 degrees, so go into detail what you wear during what type of temps. I'm big on layering in these types of temps, I usually will wear just a VERY thin layer on the way into the stand and pack the rest of the stuff in so I don't sweat. Curious what you guys are layering with.....moisture wicking and warmth in cold temps are critical here. |

I'm ordering Scentblocker's base layers tomorrow morning in mid weight and expedition weight to wear under my Gray Wolf Woolens outerwear.... I'd been looking at it for a while now, but actually got to see it first-hand at one of the dealers I'd dropped in on today; it's SUPER nice, and I can't wait to get it in already!!
About 2/3 of the way down the page on this link, you'll see them: http://www.robinsonoutdoors.com/osc/catalog.php?cPath=21 |

No doubt the best layering depending on weather etc...
Silk UA Base Slayers Wool Wolfskin Those will layer you for every hunting condition! Then a decent hat and gloves. Not necessarily in the right order for all circumstances. |

Cold weather
First thing I put on is my enduraskin tops and bottoms. They are like underarmour, but have scent elimination in them as well as wicking moisture.(Bass pro brand) Next I wear my scent lock base slayers. After that I wear my long underwear, and then my outer layer. Warm weather Enduraskin and then my outer layer and sometimes a bug suit. |

Heres my setup...
Cold weather 40 and below Top First Layer- Under Armour short sleeve Second Layer- polypropylene long sleve Third Layer- Fleece sweater, or if temps are really low, a wool sweater Fourth Layer- Outer Layer, Scent Lok Full Season Savanah Jacket Bottom FirstLayer- Polypropylene pants Second Layer- Fleece pants Outer Layer- Scent Lok Full Season Savanah Pants When the temps are warmer, usually I'll just wear the polypropylene layers and the outer layer of Scent Lok gear, but bring some extra clothes just in case. |

Enduraskin top and bottom.
I just got the Rocky Atomic stuff for over that. This stuff is great. It's light, not bulky, breathable, quiet, and is supposed to be windproof. Will be trying it out this year. I also like it for 3 other reasons: (1) it can be an outerlayer during the warm (or hot as hell) part of the season, (2) it will fit nicely under my ASAT 3-D Suit, and (3) no buttons. If it gets colder, since I have the 3-D Suit, I'm just going to wear some non-camo fleece. Here's a pic of the jacket: ![]() |

X-scent for the first layer, Duofold next layer (way cheaper than UA and just as good) Fleece mock T's as it gets colder, fleece vest after that. Scent lock savanna as a crbon layer somewhere in there and I top it off with Predator Evolution on the outside.
