another CNN hit on hunting
#12
Wolfen, I read the article twice and couldn't see where he was making fun of high tech hunting. He was making a mockery of the sport we love, making us all look like complete and total morons, who kill game, instead of hunt it.
I don't know anywhere where it's legal to use that much ammo. CNN not anti-hunting?
I don't really care if it's Sports Illistrated or not, I believe that if it's got a CNN in front of it, then it's more then likely liberal enough to be anti-hunting. They may just link to Field and Stream and such to shut us (hunters) up.
That article hacks me. What a punk...

I maintain that the article is funny knowing the many loser worthless phonies that this article describes. bigbulls...yes many of the things suggested in the article are illegal but unfortunately that is how many loser slobs "hunt". Sure it wasn't a warm and fuzzy article about the great ethical hunters of North America but it contains a strong message and hopefully strikes a nerve with many weekend warrior high-tech slobs that do more to harm this sport than this simple article does. Hmmmm...I use none of the techniques he describes...do all of you who are upset about this article "hunt" using any of them?

What was failed to be said in any of the replys is that 99% of the things mentioned in the article are things that pochers do. When you reply simply state that what the author seems to think that Hunters and pochers are one and the same I for one take offence to this. Then state that this author needs to get his facts straight and to learn the difference .

Um...nope, I don't use a single one of them believe it or not. I use a climber treestand, the closest thing I use to a heater is Hot Hands. I use a 30-06 to hunt deer and yotes, it has only a 4-round clip. I don't have squat for money, so I can't afford to pay for a hunt, and my fourwheeler doesn't have squat on it, I have to use a sling or bungee cords to carry stuff on it.
Not a single thing on that list describes me...but I still think it's anti-hunting. I can't really see how it's not, and though it is humorous, it's a cheap shot to make us all look bad.

Yes there are "slobs" out there that use any and all of the things in the article, but, as was stated in someones post, those people are poachers and there should be a very real distinction made between us and them.
The only things that I use from the article would be warm camo W/O scent lock, elk bugle/ cow call, and elk urine. NO 4-wheelers, tree stands, decoys, etc...

Read the article in sports illustrated. Made me raise a brow as to what exactly he was stating and what his stance on hunting is. I guess it's not cool in the mainstream to hunt anymore. Nevertheless, you will still often find me in the tree with bow in hand fellas

Don't you think that if he says this about hunting, he also agrees that we should all sell our cars and go back to the ways of walking or horse and buggy? Or maybe we should tear down our modern built homes and make mud shelters or teepees or something. We would have to go back to using natural things for transportation, entertainment, shelter, and everything else. That reminds me, he would have to grow his own food, instead of eating at fancy restaurants (sp?). Going back to entertainment, He wouldn't be able to even write about sports anymore or work for a big company like he does because football the way it is today wouldn't even exist. Maybe something like it, but definitely not the kind with 250$ shoes and 100 million dollar salaries. I mean seriously, WHAT IS WRONG WITH USING TECHNOLOGY? I'm not saying I agree with some of the stuff in his article but, do you think he would say anything about the cavemen figuring out how to make and shoot a bow instead of using throwing spears?
