Rage BH Review

With all the talk about the rage BH's, I bought a pack and tried them out. My first observation is, I will not trust them to stay closed without a rubber band around the middle. I pushed the blades behind the rubber O-Ring designed to hold them shut. I had my doubts even before I shot that the blades would be held back. My bow is tuned very well and when I shot I could see some wobble and the arrow hit 3" high from 30 yards. The practice head flew perfect and hit the bulls eye. I tried again with the BH and same thing. So I got a rubber band from my hammerheads and put it around the middle of the blades. Shot again and no wobble and a perfect bullseye. I then put a piece of paper on my block 4X4 and shot another with the rubber band in place. Another perfect shot and about a 1 1/2" cut in the paper. The blades still opened on impact with the rubber band in place. The Rage does not come with rubber bands and wasn't designed to be used with them as far as I know. But there is a nice groove that holds the band in place, but it opens easily on impact.

I think I will give them a try like that and see what happens. I don't like the way my Hammerheads fit with my new skinny FMJ arrows.

I shoot a Guardian at 71# so I have a pretty fast arrow. With a slower setup you may not have the problem of them opening. But I am not trusting them with the O-Ring alone. I want to know exactly where my arrow will be hitting.

amazing how the practice flies so true. I have shot only the practice so far. You know where I can get some bands that fit from.

I plan on stopping at the nearest orthodontist office. They should have plenty there.

I have a pack as well, though I haven't shot them. And that is exactly why. I didn't think they would stay closed either, they open so easily. I'm not all that happy with the design, good luck changing one of those bands, that they say you don't need.......LOL.....

I couldn't figure that out, No rubber band required, but there it is, plain as day, and great big "shock absorbing ring".........AKA, rubber band....Think I'm just gonna stick w/ the Hammerheads....

I used the 3-blade last year. With my tribute (300fps) and didnt have any problems with them opening during flight. Shot just like my field tips.

the rubber o-ring is easy to change, you just have to unscrew the broadhead to change it.

I couldn't get that O ring over the lip at the base of the head......Is there a trick?

I read here someone puts a field tip on and rolls the oring onto the shaft. then they put the head on and roll the ring onto it.
