As already mentioned, bleach in the bathwater and a good long soak. To stop the itch I see lots saying fingernail polish but Ihave successwith the acytone based nail polish remover.

Come down to Arkansas, Fraley. I have a whole crop of chigggers I can introduce you to so you can fully experience the joys of chigger bites! LOL :D
I'm glad someone else here has felt my pain before.

Fingernail polish!....Thats what I use to kill them faster. I dont think the color matters but if you just want relief from the itching you can buy a red and white little tub of stuff from Walmart. It smells pretty strong but its so good. OH Man I hate Chiggers!......and posion ivy.....Im allergic....yeah I hate my life.

When the bite starts to itch, the chigger is no longer there, it is gone. In fact, they fall off very easily when you take a bath. They bite the skin and don't burrow like a tick because they survive on skin fluids, not blood. You are not killing anything with the home remidies. What nail polish does is seal the area off from the air which keeps it from itching so much. So salves or creams with antihistimines will do the same thing with the addition of reducing the swelling. I have had luck with Preperation H cream and even the wipes.

Thank you,it is obvious many didn't read my post.

No see ums are litle biting suckers that look like miniature gnats. They are so small you don't SEE UM untill they bite you. That was the main reason I bought my thermacell.Mosquitos aren't bad where I hunt but them little suckers will carry you away.

Take a benadryl and rub on a hydrocortizone cream and forget the home remedies.I have tried them all and nothing works better.

Go back and get the facts about chiggers from my LONG post.

I took them off with duct tape last year..... showering didn't work.. but I don't know if I feel like puting bleach on myself... none of the sprays prevented them from attacking me last year.. i found wearing under armor worked the best keeping them off the skin.. any other clothing they will go right threw.. watch out for knee high grasses..after the first frost or two you won't have to worry about them anymore..

Use clear fingernail polish and it is a sure fire cure. Try it and see it really works.
