RE: Who has attempted this shot...
I shot too far down on the side (right side) of the deer. Broadhead didn't enter the body cavity, but deflected off the side of the deer. Wasn't anyone's fault but mine, I made a bad shot and a poor decision to shoot. Live and learn. Deer had superficial wounds, muscle blood etc etc. I ended up shooter her about a week later, had a bad scab, covered in flies and what not... pretty gross. Glad I got her fairly quick.

RE: Who has attempted this shot...
I tried it and lodged the broadhead perfectly in the heart with the fletchings holding the entrance hole open. You had to look up to follow the (very short) blood trail on the underside of the leaves above where she went. Those were in my 'newbie' days and I wouldn't try it again knowing what I know now, I got lucky. Wait for the double lung broadside.

RE: Who has attempted this shot...
The old straight down shot, I have taken a few deer doing threw the yrs but like others have sead, best to let them walk out 5 yrds or so then take the shot if you can.

RE: Who has attempted this shot...
Some good success stories here, and I've done the same. But I've also seen it go horribly wrong and end up in a lost deer for my hunting partner.[&:]
