I've hunted for years taking my bow to work and leaving it in the truck. Its always covered, never in direct sun, and probably the highest outside temperature you'd see during our hunting seasons is 80. Maybe that's why I've been able to do so without damage.

Not trying to be paranoid, but before you tell your boss you've been bringing your bow to work, ask him if there's a policy against having it on company grounds. With all of the hype lately, some companies would consider it a weapon and you could end up canned. Just a thought.

I'd bring the bow in definitely, if I could. The heat will take it's toll, as the others have said.

What it's gonna hurt? I mean, I can see the String drying out. But if you wax it good, wouldn't the heat melt the wax into the string thus protecting it? 100 degrees is not going to effect your limbs or riser. Sure I wouldn't make a practice of storing it in there for days on end. But short periods of time (8-10 hrs once in a while) I'd need to see some proof of it being damaging!

However, you may be able to regenerate your scentlok in there if the car gets that hot !?

I work on Fort Polk in Louisiana, they have an archery only hunitng area, and my boss bowhunts too, if I do bring it I may leave it in the back seat of my truck with the windows cracked, if I feel its getting to hot Iam sure i can bring it in, but I will find out before hand...

I guess I was thinking the same thing as GR8atta2d, how is it any different if I am hunting in late summer for antelope in a blind when it is 100 degrees out? I have been leaving my bow in my truck at least once a week all summer long. Maybe I should reconsider and just bring it inside. Hmmmmm

Just a little info for the"it ain't that hot" folks.
A 1995 study from the Journal of the Louisiana Medical Society measured the change in temperature that occured in the interior of a parked car, with its windows cracked, on an 85 degree day.The results were as follows, within 15 minutes the temperature had climbed to 113 degrees. After an hour it reached160 degrees. It will be worse on hotter days.
Leave your kids, pets or laminated archery products in there and expect serious repercussions. Glues usually start to soften and then separatearound 150 degrees.

Good reply.Strings will stretch beyond recognition if left too long.

I had a set of QUALITY strings and cables put on my nephews bow for him and I saw him at a 3-d shoot and his peep was completely backwards and I was cofused because I use the same strings and cables and NEVER had any of them move on any of my bows. Then I thought,he must have left it in his car.I asked him and sure enough, that is exactly what he did.

If you cover it and leave the windows cracked to circulate air and dont let the sun get to it you should be alright
