How many
Use a fixed single pin, I just acquired one a few days ago and have it sighted in dead on to 25 yards - anything farther will hold a little high as I don't plan on shooting past 30 this year

RE: How many
I guess whatever makes you happy. I myself don't (and wouldn't) shoot a single pin. I'm in the same boat whereI don't normally shoot past 30 yards, but between the comfort level and the leagues/tournaments....one pin just wouldn't get it done for me.

RE: How many
I only use one pin, and do exactly what you are talking about. I can't stand having five pins on my bow. If I am expecting a longer shot then I will put on a second pin.Typically, I will put on that second pin when I am looking at a 40 yard shot. It seems to me that having one pin is just simplier then have four or five. IMO
