I think if people left the word "I" out of their post this thread would be about 2 pages long. So for those of you that know a ton about hunting big bucks, tell us about that. This is a deer hunting forum and there seem to be many with so much expierence so lets here your stratagies. I'm eager to learn.

The only reason I was using the word "I" was as an example. As "I" stated earlier, the football analogy didn't cut it. So "I" used our situations as a comparison.

As for strategies, my situation up here in Canada is extremely different than 99% of the people on this board. I hunt big woods, with no ag fields within 100 miles. There are no set feeding and bedding areas, none. The only real strategy up here is to find the pinch points and funnels and quality areas and sit and wait them out. That or still hunt, which I do almost 80% of the time.

Because of this, "I" don't chime in on a lot of threads about strategy.

Thanks Dan, Pinch points, funnels, and quality areas with a ton a paitence. Now thats something I can use. Yes"I" knew it but some of our young hunters don't. This my wheener is bigger than yours gets old.

If you'll go back and read it....I never made assertions. I asked questions. Everybody wants to conveniently leave out that my original presumption was that the guy with minimal tags would tag out and be done.....and the guy with unlimited tags would be able to keep gaining experience by keeping himself in the woods....hunting.

It meandered all over the place, after that.
I think what happened is that you tried to make it look like a question and everyone saw a as whatyou stated, was anassertion. Exactly, what do you expect when you right something like that. I've read your original post a few times now and everytime I read it, it seemsyoutried to disguise how you feel with a supposed "question" and most people saw through this. your signature says you mean exactly what you write, this time just doesnt seem that way. I don't think too many be actually meandered they just saw through yourquestion and took at as a statement. Otherwise, there is no reason someone would write in that manner. Now, I understand your relatively new to bowhunting. I, myself, have only been doing it for nine years. I strongly believe that after a few more years you will start to understand how the more deer you shoot won't shorten a persons learning curve. After a few more years shooting a deer with the bow will become second nature. Most of the people I know will hunt up in till the last days of the season. This isnt because they only have one actual bow tag, but because they want a mature buck. They arent tempted by every deer they see and they don't need to learn anything more, about actually successfully putting an arrow through a deer. In "time", the most important part, I feel you will believe the same.

I might goos....but there's no way you read what you quoted of me and then wrote what you did.

They don't jive.

I hope I am not too far off the original question but at some point time in the woods is just time in the woods. Now granted I learn something new or see something newevery season, sometimes every sit but to me the fundamentalsof successful hunting are fairly basic and straight forward and do not take years uponyears to comprehend. Now that doesn't mean you quit learning or experiencing new things butat some point you just get it, and some people can certainly get to that point quicker than others. IMO

My best hunting buddy has hunted two seasons. His first season he killed his first deer (a doe) and followed that up with his first buck (a decent 6) two weeks later. His second season he killed 9, including bow and muzzleloader kills. Now granted he is probably an exception to the ruleand he had access to loads of information and spent basically two seasons hunting in my back pocket buthe took that information and hands on learning in the woods and made that knowledge his own. Fundamentally speaking he is solid and knowledgable, does he still have much to learn or experience, sure he does but the fundamentals are there.

It reminds me of guys at work who are like "I been working on this stuff for 30 years." While I respect their time inI can't help but think to myself "How many years does it take to learn this stuff, definitely not 30".
Anyway, let me get back to work I might be missing something.;)

A guy I work with, NEW.....brags that he's here at 5:30 every morning. I told him one time........."it might not be so good to be telling people it takes you 55 hours a week to get done what others get done in 40 or less".

I think I know that guy too (or a couple just like him at least).

My buddy did really well and fortunately he hasn't let it go to his head (too much anyway). I always fall back on the old " I've forgotten more about hunting deer than you'll ever know " comment whenever he starts talking about being the next Bill Jordan, of course it's not true but it sounds good to me :D. I make sure to remind him it ain't always as easy as it seems. We'll see how he deals with having a slow season which inevitably (sp?) will come.
