Nothing wrong with what you said. I had to watch a buck on the last day of the season last year that I'd have loved to have shot....I just didn't have a tag for him.
Did you learn anything, gain any experience, from watching him?
LMAO

And Jim I got it to 11 so na na poo poo stick your head in doo doo(KP)

GR8:

I learned he was still alive. I learned he goes UNDER the pasture fence in lieu of OVER it (something I would never guess for a deer his size). I learned he uses that corridor.

If I'd killed him....would I have learned more or less....or neither? I may have learned I could actually take an animal of that age/size (get drawn.....keep the nerves in check enough to make the shot...etc...).

I'm not arguing with your assumption. I learned, either way. Granted. Less? More? Don't know.....

I kinda feel for you guys who only get1 tag/2 tags. I was thinking about it this morning. You get one tag.....see your deer in the first 2 weeks.....tag him (congrats)....and you're done. To a somewhat lesser extent.....the same is true for 2 tag states.

If...oh....I don't know.....Joe Montana onlyplayed1 or 2games a year......how much "experience" could he obtain over a period ofhis career? As much as the guy playing 10-12 games a year?(aren't you trying to say shooting deer give you more experience??)

Just rambling thoughts........
You are comparing people who only shoot 1 to 2 people to people who shoot 10-12. No I havent gained any experience from last few deer I have shot. I have tracked them same way I have since I started hunting. The experience I have gained is a result of the time leading up the shot and not the shot itself.. No offense..... but its sad if you dont know how a deer reacts tobeing shot and what to do after shooting it.

To me your origianl post is trying to state that shooting more deer is more important than time spent. Maybe I'm not understanding the original post is saying or maybe you just strayed from your original post,I don't know.I'm sorry but I believe your wrong. Of course it depends howapersontaught how to hunt. If you hunt with alot ofarrogant people who shoot alot of deer, than I understand why someone might think the way you do.

A thought just occurred to me: Do you(anyone) learn anything from cameras you have in the woods? Do you(anyone) gain more (any?)experience than the guy (me LOL) that doesn't have any cameras in the woods?

Maybe you're not misunderstaning it, too.

I asked if taking animals gained a person more experience than watching them.

You said it doesn't. Your opinion.....and you're entitled.

On the camera question? Sure. I am not sure if experience would be gained but you certainly learn something. I suppose you could gain "experience" in the sense that, if you move the cameras around, you would be able to pattern the deer and the "experience" gained would be knowing their routines. The same as if you were in the woods, in the locations that the cameras are in and actually saw the deer. If the camera is just over bait I am guessing all you would know is what deer came to eat the bait.

Some of you guys will do anything to drive up your post count.

Me I'm here to learn from the experience.

I learn a little from each post , they are all meaningful to me, some times I type them out just to watch them for a while and see if I can learn from them ,then I just let them go.......
