Most of the time I use a cat quiver.

Mainly because I can store my stuff and have a quiver all in one. I also like the way this quiver protect my fletchings.

I just use a fanny pack and my pockets for small stuff and just carry my bow/gun. I have been looking at those backpacks though. For those that use them how do you like them?

If its nice weather then I will use my fanny pack.If its cold I will use my small back pack to carrier my coat-bibs so I do not sweat walking to standalso nice to have when you are gutting so you can keep your stuff clean.

RE: How do you carry your gear into the woods?

I've always used a back pack... nothing fancy.. just a cheap $20 one from Walmart. It's got several pockets to keep things handy. I just hang my pack on a little hook by my tree stand... and keep everything handy. When I pack in my summit... I have a way that I attach my pack to it..

Never tried a fanny pack.. but did consider the cat quiver IV.. but they're soo exspensive!!!

I love my CatQuiver backpack. I hunt public land so I have to carry my stand in everytime I hunt and I can even carry my stand on my back with the pack. It is great.

RE: How do you carry your gear into the woods?

My "other" vote realy means...all of the above.

I have a hunter orange back pack that goes with me. It has knives, scent spray, lunch, water, rags, rope, and other various items I might need. The fanny pack is only for hiking deep into the woods because it is my survival pack. In it you will find fire starters, lint, mirror, whistles, compass, first aid kit, etc. My pants pockets will have my gloves, release (if not worn), GPS, and a pocket knife. I will also have a knife on my belt. I usually hunt alone so I have to be prepared for just about anything.

Happy and Safe Hunting
Reid

I carry a fanny pack for survival kit and small stuff and a backpack for everything else :)

Although I picked backpack , I really use both backpack and fanny pack ... why you asked , because I carry everything but the kitchen sink.
The list is too long but I'm sure you can imagine what you need for an all day hunt from a first - aid kit to extra batteries and anything else in between.
What I put in my fanny pack are things I'll use when I'm up in my stand , what I leave in my back pack will be the things I'll use later though out the day.

Fanny packs are neat if you are 80 or loved the 1980's. ;)

I don't do treestands so it's usually pockets and maybe a small fanny pack. My folding stool also has a pouch that generally holds my water and munchies. I travel light.

I voted other, I use a backpack, fanny pack, and a dufflebad. Pending on time of year and weather conditions. Sometimes all 3.

Fanny pack or back pack depending upon the weather and how far I am going.

I generally carry in stuff with my hand or have it around my neck. I really like the new packs they are coming out with though, might have to invest.

I have a massive fanny pack with two side pouches. If it cold out, I will pack extra gear in a backpack.

Back pack, because I've got to carry my critters out of the woods/mountains.

Depends on where I'm hunting. If I am hunting in my close to home spots, I just fill my pockets with what I need to hunt, the rest stays in the truck not far away. If I'm hunting my land down in southern Illinois I usually take a fanny pack. If I'm huntingin the middle of public land where there are not stands already set up, I pack my climber andbackpack.

Backpack for me. No reason why, just seems to be the easiest for me.

I strap my fanny pack on and twist it so its on my front, then throw the climber on the back and it makes for an easy walk. It balances well enough, and you dont have all the weight on your back.

RE: How do you carry your gear into the woods?

I have a pretty large fanny pack that I use. If I am using my climber (which I usually do) I set it in my climber near the top and attach the straps that wrap around the main compartment around the climber's chains. That way I pack it in on my back with my climber. Also, when I have my climber set up at the base of the tree, I use those straps to attach the pack to the arm rest of the climber and climb with it attached to the stand. If I'm hunting with a fixed position stand or from the ground, I wear it around my waist.

I always carry a backpack. I bring enough stuff that I need one. The only time it gets to be a hassles if when i bring my climber. The i simply swtich the backpack around to my chest. Try to only do that when the weather is cool.

I used to use a fanny pack, but I ran out of pockets. This is mainly because I have the same problem Rob has. See above.

I use a backpack to carry all my crap in and then use one of the EZ Hangers once I'm in the tree.

RE: How do you carry your gear into the woods?

I use all of the abovebut mostlyleg pouches.. Ive got a couple pouches, two knives, prunner and saw on the belt too.. Never gets in the way of carring stands. Never holds you off balance and its all there to grab when needed. i put straps on the back formy coat or clothes when walking in ... I'll never use anything else..

I used to just use pockets but then went to a fanny pack, but started carrying too much stuff, so I now use a back pack.

Fanny pack. It'll hold a bow hanger and facemask/gloves, just fine. That's about all I take in (besides my bow).

Here is the pack I use. I modified it myself to add the quiver to it.
