Pennsylvania Crossbow hunting
Im new to archery and was wondering if anyone had any info on using a crossbow in PA. I saw that you can use one during the muzzleloader season but I dont know about the regular archery season. Also, how do most bowhunters feel about using a crossbow as opposed to a regular bow? Is that considered cheating? Keep in mind that im just looking to stock up the freezer with venison.

You can use a crossbow in muzzleoader and rifle seasons in PA, and you can use one during archery season if you get the disability permit.

also i dont really think it is cheating to use a crossbow if you really are disabled and cant pull back and hold a vertical bow. My dad got a disabled crossbow permit after he was hurt in an accident at work. Although the aiming might be easier for a crossbow you still have to be close to the animal and in my dads case (and probably most people who qualify as disabled) cant climb into a tree stand so he hunts on the ground increasing the difficulty.

If it's legal it's not cheating (as long as you don't skirt the system with some lame Dr. excuse).
Would some Bowhunters look down their nose at you? Honestly? Yes. Heck, there aretraditional shooters who look down at compounds and then there are those who make their own bows and arrows, who look down on those who buy pre-made equipment. It's all a circle. Stay within legal means, get some thick skin, and enjoy the Hunt!
