How many hunting arrows do you carry?
I was curious how many arrows, with broadheads, do you bring out with you when hunting? Also, why do you bring that certain number?
I bring 4 as it just seems enough to me, and one arrow with a field tip. |
RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?
i carry three with broadheads and two with judo points for small animals if im not seeing deer.
|
RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?
4, all 100 grain muzzy 3 blade
|
RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?
I bring 4 for hunting, 2 for practice, and one blunt.
|
RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?
I bought a 6-arrow quiver, but I may only carry four arrows in, leaving the slot on each end empty, just for safety reasons. It will be 2 Slick Tricks and 2 Phantoms for me in the quiver, possibly 3 of each.

RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?
I carry 4 because that's all my quiver holds. They are all tipped with wacem 3 blades or magnus stingers. I am only out there for deer or coyotes so all my arrows are the same. I have heard of stories where people carried field tips and judo points and accedentily shot the wrong tip at large game when the buck fever set in. I know all mine are the same and I don't have to worry about that.

|
RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?
I just picked up a newer Kwikee Kwiver. . .it actually only carries four. So, I think I will be carrying 3 arrows with broadheads (still debating on the full set-up) and one with a G-5 small game head for, well. . .small game.
|
RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?
3 for me.
|
RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?
3. all with broadheads. might be different broadheads..like last year i carried 2 Muzzys and 1 expandable for turkey or groundhog(never even shot it) i dont think im allowed to even have a FP in my quiver while hunting. pretty sure the law reads something along the lines of razorheads with a 2 or more cutting edges or something....
i carry 3 because i felt 5 was too many..more to get in the way with, more weight on that side of the bow etc...3 i feel fine...i can and would only shoot 1 deer before recovering and tagging anyways. i guess i COULD shoot a deer and a turkey....but i dont know if i would. id have to be confident the first animal didnt go far and be very confident of the 2nd shot...so 3 works for me...i miss more than that i will probably chuck the bow for my 4th shot:D |
RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?

RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?
Normally I carry 5. Don't need that many, but it stems from the first time I ever shot at deer w/ archery tackle......I had, oh, probably 12-15 does w/in 25 yards of my stand, and in a matter of 5 minutes I had emptied my quiver of 6........Sure glad I've got THAT problem worked out.....[&:]Mostly......

RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?

RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?
I carry 6 in the quiver but when I go on a hunt I have at least a dozen in the case. Flew in for a moose hunt once and out of a dozen I only had 2 straight arrows by the time I got to camp, and only one to hunt caribou with after I shot my moose. (I've since upgraded from Doskocil to SKB!) You just never know when you might take a fall in the mountains and bend most of the arrows in your quiver, the more you have, the better chance that at least one of them is going to survive.

RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?
Rob, that's a good point that I think some people miss.
A friend of mine recently asked me why I purchased another dozen arrows when I already have a little over a half dozen. He said something along the lines of; "You can only carry a half dozen in your quiver." Well, I now have a little over a dozen and a half arrows. I gave him a half dozen of my FMJs because I wanted him to be shooting better (legal weight) arrows this fall. If anything happens to my arrows, I'll be able to quickly replace them with more. Fortunately, he has the same draw length and shoots the exact same length arrow I do, so if something happens to his arrows I've got him covered as well. We're hunters. Chit happens. Those who are prepared can continue to hunt, those who aren't get to sit at camp. |
RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?
I carry four...three with broadheads and one with a field tip
|
RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?
4 in a 5 quiver. I just like the number 4.
I was thinking about 3, but I've had an arrow fall out of stand before. Another time when practicing my pre-shot routine I let one fly (anybody else ever do that?). Yes, I'm pretty special. [&:] So I use 3 with bh and 1 FT, need to look into SGH for this year. |
RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?
I hunt with 4 arrows.
I've thought about getting a 5 of 6 arrow quiver because one time a few years ago I killed three deer within about 1 1/2 hours, so I'm sitting up in my stand with my last arrow nocked and nothing in the quiver. I don't like not having a second shot close at hand if needed. As it turned out I didn't shoot the last one and I haven't shot more than two in one sitting since then but it made me think about bringing more arrows with me. |
RE: How many hunting arrows do you carry?
I carry 4 tiped with muzzies 125 3 blade 1 of which is usually a cull for coyotes, bobcats ect. Oh the cull is marked so i don't accidently grab it when I string an arrow.
