40lbs here in South Dakota. I think 30lbs is getting a little low, but thats only my opinion.

40 here in NH, 50 for Moose.
If you think about it, the minimum weight hasn't changed in years, meanwhile the speed that bows spit out arrows has gone up. So the speed todays 30lb bow can shoot are probably close to or greater than previous years 40lb bows, resulting in same or higher KE and Momentum. Of course this ignores traditional bows, but a 30 lb compound is probably faster than a 40 lb recurve. |

30lbs is fine. Ive heard of people killing deer with less than that.

You mean there are people out there that dont have a 70lb draw weight? Seriously everyone I know Shoots theirs at 70. Including me.

When I was 14 in Wyoming it was 45#'s. I could pull about 52 #'s then. In Nebraska it is 40# as well. My wifes 40# bow shoots pretty darn good at 40#. I have her using magnus stinger 4 blades and I am hoping to get her on a deer this year to see what that will do.
