Not trying to instigate more here, but how do you figure "rich non hunting yuppys" live in that neighborhood? I see a driveway... and what may be a dirt road... oh, the solar lights, nevermind...

Longbeard,

I'm curious. If you can shoot quarters at that distance, why didn't you shoot the deer in the knee? As the deer was spinning around on three legs going OUCH, OUCH, OUCH, you could have flung a second arrow into his other knee. This would have surely crippled him. At that point, you could have walked up and rammed a Q-tip through his ear and into his brain. It's so easy a caveman can do it! I understand why you're not getting the respect you're looking for!
LMAO, Now that was funny.<----<<

Everything about Mr Headshot's story doesn't make sense. First, he says the 4 pt would have been the biggest buck he's ever shot but then proclaims to have shot over 100 deer. Then it's all about hunting only public land and there are only small bucks on public land. I've only been here 7 yrs but I've seen some nice bucks on public land and Maryland isn't exactly the archery capital of the US. There are not that many people that the deer are spooked during archery. Even on public land I've had does just walk buy. Third, he doesn't seem to know what the head of a deer looks like. You'd think after shooting over 100 deer he would know. Now, I need to go practice shooting at quarters at 10 yds to prepare for the upcoming season.

Holy Cow. That picture makes me angry. What kind of idiot would do something like that???

I'm sure that would make for a lot of sympathy for hunters around that neighborhood. Hope the deer was put out of his misery..

This is when Stealthycat would say "hey it's legal right?"
Yes he would have Charlie...and rightfully so.

Where's all the guys that are constantly saying "if it's legal, than it's OK, rightbrothers"???

I don't understand why they're not streaming to your defense there Mr. Longbeard.

So I felt confident with the head shot and thats what I did... I put one in the grape... Dropped him in his tracks... Just wondering what others would of done...
This is why I don't hunt public land.

This is why my hunting party booted a guy 3 years ago.

This is why hunters have a bad name.

This is not ethical hunting IMO.

This is why I would never hunt with you.

The person who would take a stupid shot like this is Longbeard (obviously).

I wouldn't take it. Theres to many things that can go wrong. To me it would be an unethical shot.

I could see maybe doing it with a rifle but never a bow. Too much room for error. Not doing the animal any justice. And giving all of us a bad name, which doesnt help in todays day and age.

As far as the deer in the photo, you don't know if that arrow had been deflected or the deer spun what ever.

I shot at a deer broadside before and he down with in sight, When I got down the arrow had gone through the neck and taken out the heart. I don't remeber the deer spinning on me.

From the lack of penetration I'd say it was deflected.

Yea it's just a deer...
That about sums it up. You obviously have no respect for the animals you pursue. No true sportsman would intentionally shoot a deer in the head with archery equipment.

If you pulled that crap at my deer camp you would no longer be invited.

I don't know if this pic was from an intentional head shot or not, but it shows what could happen if a head shot didn't work out as planned. This buck was walking around a Pennsylvania neighborhood with an arrow in the back of it's head.

Putting the topic at hand aside...... The buck in the picture does not really looked stressed and the arrow placement is right behind the head at theend of his neck. The arrow looks like it penetrated at least 5" or6". This shot in my eyes should have dropped or killedthe deer, severing a main artery or damaging the spinal cord..... there's no noticable blood either. This leaves me to believe the arrow had a field point, was very short and only penetrated an inch or so, or the pic was photoshopped.

Needless to say it's a disturbing picture, and whether it's real or not doesn't change my mind on the bad ethics of a bow and arrow head shot.....But I can't helpto say this pic looks a little funny to me.
