Default Another hunters stand

I have permission to hunt a small peice of ground ( 35acres) that is in the suburbs it is rather seculded but a couple of other guys have permission also. I have a good rapor with them and due to the layout of the property there are only a few good stand locations. They have several stands already in place inthe prime spotsand said I could huntout of them. My question is should I hunt out of them or not sometimes I arrive before them and sometimes I dont. I dont want to loose my good standings by walking in on them or have them walk in on me. Should I give them there space and hang up in less than prime spots?

If they gave you permission to hunt the stands that something should be worked out so that scenerio doesn't happen. Perhaps a sign in and where your going assuming everyone parks the same place etc...

Nothing is more infuriating than to have someone walk in at prime time etc...

What you should do...is call them that mourning or the night before and ask them where they are hunting. If not..ask everyone to met at a spot and talk about where you are going and do it eveytime your about to hunt!

I agree with everyone else, talk it over when and where your going to hunt a day or so in advance soyou don't mess up each other hunts! We use the walkie talkies and call ahead to make sure where the other hunter is sitting.I would still set up another stand some where in case all of you happen to be hunting that area the same day just in case.If you do park in the same spot together a note on your windshield stating the place and stand you are hunting in would also help in letting the other hunters know you are out there and to be careful.

Oh yeah...when hunting in someone else stand be sure to be courteous, keep it clean and as scent free as possible (no smoking) etc... and share any info about deer movement rubs, scraps with your fellow hunters!

I have a similar situation...for the last three years me and a buddy have hunted a piece of land that we get permission to hunt every year at. There is a guy who had permission to hunt on it 12 years ago but never went back to get permission the past 11 years. Well me and my buddy found a prime spot to hang a stand which happens to be about 30 yards away from his.

I would talk to the other hunters. Communication is the key here. I would also hang a stand or 2 as well. Remember if you want to keep the peace amoung hunters then communicate...

I put up several stands with a few people I hunt the same area with and we had this same problem. There was one spot that you had to go past to get into the area, no matter which stand you were going to. We put up a little sign post with a nail hanger for each stand. Whichever stand we're going to we hang one of those cheap plastic #1 keychains so whoever else comes next knows someone's in the stand. Works like a charm... as long as you remember.
