Default Nikon Prostaff Laser 440 Rangefinder

What are your guy's feelings on this rangefinder. I do know that Nikon does make some nice stuff. I am just looing for a good rangefinder for bow hunting only, that will be small as possible, light weight, accurate and really does "NOT" need to be capible of long rage(yardage). If you guys have any other range finders in mind let me know...

I have the same model in the 600. It works great, very simple to use and accurate. I did get mine to read 663 yards one time so they will reach out to the distance they say they will. If i would do it over again i would have saved the money and got the 440, because I use it for mainly for bow hunting and muzzleloader.

I've been using the 440 for the last 3 seasons - I love it, works great. For the money, you can't go wrong.

My friend has a Nikon 440 and he didnt like it at all so he let me borrow it for a couple days. It worked good but 90% of the time it wouldnt give you a reading. I would aim and push the power button and it wouldnt do anything. Eventually it would give a reading. I would take a goodlook at Luepolds RX-II. http://cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0037625712523a&navCount=1&podI d=0037625&parentId=cat601608&masterpathid= &navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat602006-cat601608&catalogCode=IH&rid=&parentTy pe=index&indexId=cat601608&hasJS=true

I have the 440, its great! I think it is all I will ever need for bow hunting. I had the low end bushnell first, it was a little larger and had trouble ranging black targets (bears on the 3D range, etc.) I sold the bushnell and got the Nikon and haven't looked back since. The only down side is that the magnification is 8X, which is a little much for quick acquisition but the benifits outweigh the negatives IMO.

I'm with big dan... it's pretty good for bowhunting but if you plan on using it for anything else I'd get something different. The low magnification it's difficult to put the crosshairs on a coyote at 300+ yards.

Another vote for the Nikon 440. Great for bowhunting.
