Jeff I agree wholeheartedly! If there is no gain for poachers many of them might just quit!

This is exactly why it should be illegal to sell animal "parts". It would take the temptation away from the poachers (the monetary portion, anyways).

RE: Whitetail Antler Values
It is illegal in Jersey to sell any part of a game animal. I think there is an exeption for hides or trapped animals such as fox pelts.
A man from my town who was well known as an outlaw was just recently involved in a sting operation from the NJ Fish and Game. An undercover officer approached the man as a buyer for whitetail antlers. He posed as a fabricator for antler chandeliers. The undercover officer stated that he would pay 1500.00 per pound for any whitetailantlers, and would purchase all that he had. In any case after a couple months of back and fourth with the known outlaw, the officer was finally able to convince him to make a sale.
When it all went down the front of his house looked like a Game Warden convention. They wound up with hundreds of sets of antlers that were tagless, all of his guns were confiscated, and he faces some definate jail time. Not to mention he will never be able to hunt in the state of Jersey again. It was a pretty big thingaround here. If I'm not mistaken it was his third or fourth offense.

where I hunt I've heard of guys selling racks to Americans for up to $10000, and yup they all poach'em. And yes it is illegal here to sell any part of a wild animal but just b/c its against the law do you think a poacher, whom is breaking the law already really cares....... NOPE. You have to enforce the laws
