When vacations strike back. . .
“No bow for you” is really all I heard at the doctor’s office tonight, as I left, still struggling with pain in my left bicep and triceps.
What happened I really don’t know? All I do know is the pain is overwhelming at times and I would prefer my arm to be severed off at the current moment. I might even donate the use of my inflamed arm to those Techie nuts on the Technical Forums. I am sure they would love to do some ballistic testing or test broadhead penetration. How good are those Rage broadheads anyways? In the end, it sounds like I have some sort of muscle strain, torn tendon, something of that nature. No more softball this summer, as well as shooting my bow for about 4-6 weeks. I recall a thread by Ducsauce not too long ago, referring to how we endanger our chances at hunting with other hobbies and everyday activities. I never would believe I could injure myself on vacation, but somehow, I managed. I don’t know if it was the trip through the 3-D course this past Saturday (went shooting with JFergus7 near Lake Geneva, WI) or that nasty bucket of range balls on the driving range at my resort. Either way, I believe “no bow for you” stings worse than the arm . . . for the time being anyways. |
RE: When vacations strike back. . .
ugh! hang in there and heal up quick. for your own sake, listen to the doc...easier said than done...but ive done my fair share of not listening to the doctor.
like the time i broke both wrists at once. he gave me removable air casts so i could atleast goto the bathroom and bath myself...if not i would been about useless. he told me only take them off when absolutely needed blah blah etc...yaaaa your gunna give a teenager 2 removable casts?? we all know broken bones dont hurt much after a week...atleast i didnt think so...now i can move my wrists a couple degrees in any direction...passed that is a no go. sometimes i get a decint bit of pain...all my fault im sure..oh well...i caught a bunch of fish i remember..those couple weeks with and without that casts on..most times without lol. or the time i had Mono, a bit over a week before rifle season. i had a severe case...so bad they wanted to keep me and put in airways because my throat was honestly about swelled shut. if i got up to goto the bathroom i was sleeping the second i made it back to bed. TERRIBLE. oh ya...not to mention the whole swollen spleen thing and it could rupture. HA!! the sunday before the season i went and sighted in my deer rifle. i was pretty much "better"...still got exhausted from little work, and wasnt "well"...but i was better lol. i specifically asked the Dr if shooting my rifle was bad...he said nahh shouldnt be. i still think hes wrong but hey..hes a Dr. that Monday, season opened. i was in the woods bright and early!! by the time i got to my stand i was exhausted. i dont know if i even watched the sun rise..11am my buddies came through driving and picked me up...i got to sit on the rest of the drives and didnt walk 50yds from the trucks. they kept an eye on me. i really dont think i shoulda been out there.... man i could go on for days about not listening to the drs....but in your case...id listen...with bow season fast approaching and all. |

RE: When vacations strike back. . .

|
RE: When vacations strike back. . .
Bols ... I'm really sorry to hear about your arm , maybe you should have let your wife take the hundred dollar bill instead of playing tug of war with her. :D
I really hope you heel up in time for hunting season but in the mean time , take it easy and don't overdo it you don't want to risk reinjury. Let me know if you want me to come down there and shoot one for ya , I'll be more than happy to do so. :) |
RE: When vacations strike back. . .
Get an Excuse from your Doctor to use a Cross Bow for the next 6 months until you heal up....don't miss Hunting because of a little temporary set back. :( You can use a Cross Bow in Illinois right?
I had shoulder surgery about 3 years ago and luckily I was healed up before Bow Season started! |
RE: When vacations strike back. . .
ouch!!!

RE: When vacations strike back. . .
That stinks! Take your time and don’t rush yourself. I had a similar problem a couple of years ago – my back popped when I went to draw back my bow. It took me a couple of months off and doing daily Dr. recommended exercises (luckily it was the off-season) before I could shoot again. I went from pulling around 70lbs down to about 57lbs, which is where I’m still at….
I was able to lobby the wife for a new bow – the only good thing to come of it… |
RE: When vacations strike back. . .
i agree with the crossbow idea. theres your ticket to gettin out in the woods
