I use a Carter Ember 1 about 99% of the time. However, if I get the slightest indication that I am getting punchy, I swith to a Carter 2.5 Solution (backtension w/safety) release. I can shoot the backtension release for a short time and all the punching goes away.

I've tried a bunch of different releases, and I keep going back to my ole' Fletchhunter. To me, still the smoothest releases made.

i've got a little goose. i tried the wildcat thinking the nylon would allow me to tuck the release in my sleeve. my anchor felt a lot different without the rigid body that the little goose has so i went back.
