Jersey Winter Bow Season!!!
#1
With only 3 days to wait for winter bow season to start here in NJ I just wanted to wish all the jersey hunters much success this january. For those who will brave the cold and go after them once again the long gun season is finally almost over and we can pick up our bows and go at em'.
I got a hot scrape and 20 hits on my trail timer and looking forward to layin' em' down.
Good hunting and God speed everyone!

I was out today and am seeing some signs of secondary rut, two fresh scrapes and a couple of fresh rubs in my area....

Well I plan on going myself this winter bow. One question if you guys don't mind. I was wondering when the deer start dropping antlers as I have heard that some people are already seen bucks without head gear? Another question too is that I am not really interested in gutting a doe (as I will take a doe if I have the oppertunity to) and see a baby no matter how small it is. So will I have that chance if I do shoot a doe? I have passed on about 50 or 60 deer this year hunting zone 21 in lebanon state forrest so My empty freezer needs to fill up a bit. I want to take 2 deer this winter so fill it up for the winter. Thanks for reading guys. Good luck to all of ya and be safe out there.

SuperMag, I got a big doe this evening with Blackpowder and no baby inside. Although deer are bred in the fall, the fetus will usually not start developing until Spring when food is more plentiful. I believe this is called 'delayed gestation', but I could be wrong. But you almost certainly won't see a fetus this time of the year. As for the bucks shedding already, lets hope not, but I have seen some lose them during Blackpowder season.

NJbowman, yes we are trying to put together some hunting videos from NJ. We have some footage of the deer in our area and a few minutes of footage from a hunt during the rut when we had a buck chasing a doe come through out of bow range and then an hour later another buck chasing a doe out of bow range not to mention a nice little spike that we passed on that was right under the camera stand and a bunch of does feeding in the soybeans. My email address is [email protected] if you would like to contact me. I hunt zone 25 in Franklinville, NJ. It is a campground that I manage and live on with 276 acres of which around 125 acres are undeveloped and thats where the two bucks you see were taken this year with my bow.
