Fred Trost was and still is my all time favorite TV outdoor host. I grew up watching Michigan Outdoors with my dad. He laterhosted a show called "The Practical Sportsman" and he targeted the every day Joe. He never got caught up in the trophy mentality that dominates outdoor shows today. He was a real class act. Sorry to hear he's gone.

Wow, that is really too bad. I used to enjoy his show, toward the end it was terrible, but the funding wasn't there for anything more than they were doing. He's going to be missed in MI as he was a knowledgable sportsman, got his law degree a couple years ago actually so that he would be able to defend sportsman's rights in an intelligent manner. He had some great shows in the past, I remember one in particular when they were smelting in the UP, when is the last time you have seen than on TV?!

I use to watch his show when I was younger, Michigan Outdoors I believe. He got pretty much shutdown when the scent companies sued him over claiming the scent industry was a scam and a bottle human pee was just as good. He fought it in court, and lost if I remember right.

Rest in Peace!
