We have approx. 2200 acres leased and for the last 10 years doe hunting has been a no no. My question: How can one tell if a parcel of property has too many does? I have seen 26 deer while driving half of the property. Three bucks and the rest does. Other times I have seen 19 does, 17 does; Some of these may be button bucks... I think we need to kill some does... We have some old hunters in the club that do not believe in killing does. I am sure that other things come into the picture.. Just wanted some opinions. Thanks..

Well according to the QDM gurus, the perfect doe to buck ratio is 1 to 1. Without actually seeing the place it's hard to determine if there are too many does or not. I would try some serious scouting. Or maybe some trail cams if you have them. If that's not an option, perhaps just going out and looking for buck sign. (rubs and scrapes) and see if the amount you see is equal to the number of bucks you've seen. Or go shed hunting and get a idea of the number of bucks that way. Good luck on converting the elders on taking some does.
