So after passing on a few deer earlier this year, seeing many more and never getting a shot and with the season ending on Tuesday here in Michigan... I took the slug gun I took a nice doe at about 15-20 yards from the ground and as much as I like the jerky and Venison neck and Green chili tacos, I didn't get nearly the same rush as just SEEING one with the bow. I feel dirty
So after only my second year hunting deer, next year it's bow only. The wife's going to think I'm crazy for selling the gun I just bought last year...but I feel I must atone for my sins
On the upside, I did make a good shot...I'll try to post a pic, but I never seem to get it right
I will be back out on the 1st(last day) with the bow to try to rectify my ineptitude!

what ever you do don't sell the gun. I have sold a few and regretted every one of the sales.
you sell it and next year you will wish you had it back.
a deer with the gun is still a good deer harvest.
I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest
remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry.

I did the same thing as you. I went out last year for the first time and shot a buck with my bow(opening day actually). Then this year no shots during bow season, could have shot a few does, but passed. I sort of regret that now, I had two doe tags I should have filled. But I did manage to get a nice buck during gun season with my REM. 700ML.
Like you, I would have like to get one with my bow, but meat in the freezer is meat in the freezer. It was still pretty exciting getting one with the gun.

Take heart my son. You are forgiven your transgressions. For your pentace, you must now shoot 20 arrows a day until the beginning of bow season next year. LOL
Really though, don't sell the gun. It will help you keep the freezer full during the lean years. The only reason we have venison in the frezzer now is because of my stepson and his shotgun.
KEEP IT LEGAL. KEEP IT SAFE. OR WE MAY NOT GET TO KEEP IT AT ALL.

OH come on! any deer taken with any weapon legally is a trophy and should be honored and respected.I shot deer with 4 different bows, inline muzzys, flintlocks, pistols, rifles and slug guns and I dont feel like I have sinned. This year I shot one with my crossbow,a inline and a slug gun and thank God for all of them

WHAT EVER YOU DO DON'T SELL THE GUN. IF YOU HUNT IN MICHIGAN YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT WAS THIS YEAR. I THINK THAT THERE WAS A UFO THAT CAME IN AND TOOK ALL THE DEER. FROM WHAT I HERE YOU SHOULD BE GLAD THAT YOU WERE ABLE TO EVER HARVEST A DEER.
