RE: What is the best base layer
I am a big fan of Patagonia as well. They make an excellent layering system.

RE: What is the best base layer
my personal favorite is te wind ,
but that is just my opinion pther than that i use a scent lock. |
Patagonia's capiline works best for me. The Cabelas' weight series is a good choice too. Tried both and can't complain.

Patagonia's capiline works great as you can choose from among diff weights. Cabela's weight series is a good one too. Have both actually and can't complain.

I have always used under armor, I recently was told to wear a just a cheap long underwear set underneath them because most people don't order them at least a size bigger. Now they keep me much warmer. They always felt clammy and now a huge difference. I then have a layer from an armory surplus store, awesome set. They are olive green and ugly as hell but are super warm.

I use a longsleeve HEATGear or 32 sweat-wicking layer (like you can find at Costco), then an Under-Armour compression turtleneck, and a loose Under Armour longsleeve shirt on top of that. On especially cold days, I put an adhesive HotHands bodywarmer on the compression layer, at the small of my back.

For me the warmest is Minus 33 heavyweight. I get cold easily. I wear them with fleece next and them my windproof outerwear.
