Season is coming quick!I'm goingto start shooting broadheads for the first time in a lot of years. I'm shooting a Bowtech Tomkat, set at 65lbs. What kind of difference should I expect from my 125 grain field tips switching to 125 grain muzzy 3 blade? How much will this difference magnify at longer yardage? I can't wait to shoot this weekend!

Thanks Bryan

To be honest.....I shoot 100gr field tips and 125gr. muzzy3 blades. I also shoot an overspined, heavy hunting arrow....and the only adjustment I have to make is with my 40 and 50 yd pins. I've been lucky in that everything else is dead-on when I switch over from 3D set-up.

Good luck.

I shoot 100 gr 4 bladeand have never tried the 125gr. Not sure how much of a difference they would make at 20 yards if any.

You shouldn't see any real diffrence at all if your bow and arrows are properly tuned.
You should be able to shoot the same grouping or patteren with both field tip and broadhead.

To be real honest. I don't have to adjust much when shooting broadheads. I never shoot them past 30 yards, so I don't know what it would do to my 40 and 50 markings. I still shoot them before season just to get the warm fuzzy feeling but no big adjustments. I shoot 100 gr. field tips and 100 gr Muzzys at 65 lbs.

I use 100 grain muzzy 3 blade and love them. I have 100% passthrough percentage and they fly great for me. I don't shoot past 40 yards. I am shooting at 60lbs.

Broadheads are going to magnify any tuning inconsistencies (or should I say expose) that have basically remained hidden or covered up while shooting field points, irrespective of the brand.

I NEVER shoot fieldpoints,Muzzy 100gr 3 blade with pactice blades only! They weigh the same and fly the same as the hunting blades.I just can't see practicing with something you're not going to hunt with.

I never have a problem switching back and forth. My bow is well tuned so broadheads have little effect. I do like to practice with them. I’ll shoot out to 50 at least, so when you have 20-30 deer for real the shot seems easier. Just remember to replace blades or sharpen the ones that you practice with before using them for hunting.

early, if you can afford all those new targets... more power to you! For those who shoot hundreds and hundreds of arrows a week though, it WILL make a difference -- even if you're shooting Muzzy practice blades (I know, because I shoot them, too). I shoot on average 40-50 arrows a day, and I don't feel like buying a new bag target every couple months.

For the sheer repetitive practice top archers need to become finely tuned machines, being able to shoot field points is invaluable when it comes to damaging targets less.
