I got into a good discussion with a friend of mine who seems to always down a pope and young buck. He insists the best time to kill a mature buck is early in the AM. My experiences have been opposite of his, granted -i haven't killed a pope and young buck but have seen probably a dozen or so in the last five years but could not close the deal. I've found i've arrowed all but one of my bucks in the evening with the largest being at 6:00pm in the evening. What time of day have your biggest bucks met the end of an arrow?

Mine wasn't a bow buck...but I shot my best buck chasing a doe right out of the bedding area...something must have spooked the doe so she was coming through, went right past the buck and I nailed him. It was with a shotgun though

My results are skewed because I hunt WAY more evenings than mornings due to my work schedule. I shoot a good number of bucks early evening.

My largest buck was taken w/ about 30min of light left, idk the exact time, but it was dark when I got out of my stand to track him.

i have had the best luck around 4pm....although i have seen bigger bucks right at the close of the day and they have hung up out of range until after legal shooting hours.
