When does bow hunting season start in your area?
 

Here in Alberta bow hunting season starts on August 25th,07 in some WMU's and Sept. 5th in most others. I hope to go on Opening day (Aug.25th) andfill myself my 1st anterless W.T.doe tag and perhaps fill my2nd anterless W.T.deer tag on opening day of Sept.5. If this happens then I hope to use my 5 day hunt in WMU 234 and get some of those CWD deer(3), then if I get those then (3) more. Of course rifle season would be much better for this since 6 deer can be harvest in WMU 234. If all went well this fall I could end up with 12 deer. Maybe an elk as well.

The truth is the most I ever got was 5 deer. Ate three and gave two too people in need. If I was ever to get 12 deer the food bank would get at least 8 of them.

So is bow hunting in your area getting close?

Oct 1 opener here in IL. I'm sooooo jealous of you folks that get a season early enoughto hunt fora velvet buck! I dream of IL allowing us to do the same here one day!

Minnesota Archery opener is September 15th, gun season opens November 3rd.
North Dakota Archery Opener is August 31st, gun season opener is November 9th.

Depends on where you live in Pa either Sept 15 or Sept 29. It is the 29th for me.

We do not have an archery season, gun season starts Aug. 15- Jan. 1st.

depends on what area you hunt in.Middle of september in some areas but for most of the state season open OCT 1st.louisiana

August 1 general deer season (which is archery for me), Nov. 1 for archery/muzzleloader only.

Sept. 29th here in TX, which suprised me, usually it is Oct. 30... Starts on a Sunday, which is also kind of weird... Just goes to show you better read the new regs every year.

In Western NY it's the 2nd Saturday of October. This year it's October 14th which is way to long to wait.

Yea that is a long wait for sure eh. Well my friend I'm with you on thisbeing the year that we get thatdream buck. Too be honest with you I hadfive dream bucks in the palm of my hand and well a fewmay still be alive and kicking dream bucks (I think). One was the first buck (mulie) I ever saw out hunting...didn't shoot(1983). One was on a farm yard but I already got mine a couple of weeks before (W.T.buck)2003, another W.T.buck was seen in 2002 and 2003...but I already got one a few weeks earlier...I was after a doe. Plus another W.T.buck in 2002. Oh and the fifth one I missed in 2002, but was happy with this giant body size buck just a few days later.

So maybe this is our year...I mean all of us hunters who are still waiting for that big one.;)
