Anybody wanna trade?
Here's a thought I had the other day.
I've got tons and tons of deer hunting and archery magazines (not catalogs). If I send you ten....will you send me ten you have thoroughly read. Mine are all in good shape.....and though part of me wants to hang onto them....I'm a minimalist at heart. If I didnt feel bad for reading them and tossing them....I would. So....I send you ten....you send me ten (or five...I don't care). Even if I get back some like I have.....the few dollars I spend on shipping would be better than buying just one over the counter. Either this....or some of you youngins PM me your address, and I'll send 'em your way. I'm gonna clean mama's house a little. |
RE: Anybody wanna trade?
What kind of mags do you read? anything in particular?
|
RE: Anybody wanna trade?
thats a great idea Jeff....i read mine...let them sit around a while...then usually pitch them in bulk:( mom used to make me once a year or so. now i do it on my own will...when im moving out of my dorm room every year i usually pitch a pile...just easier to pitch them than move them down 7 flights of steps...lol
lately i gave up on magazines...more advertisements than anything else...i can understand some...but between advertisements and biased writers talking about what their sponsors wants to sell that month they seem to be a waste... |
RE: Anybody wanna trade?
I need to get rid of some as well...

RE: Anybody wanna trade?
Magazines have found a good home to a young hunter.

RE: Anybody wanna trade?
Hey GMMAT... it's called recycle. Send those old magazines back to the shredder.:D What are you, a pack rat? Now if you got a bunch of old Playboys laying around I suspect you'll be stampeded.

RE: Anybody wanna trade?
i still have all but three hunting magazines ive ever bought. catalogs get tossed except the hardback cabelas, but every single magazine stays.
i have fur fish game, field and stream, outdoor life, kentucky game and fish, kentucky afield, deer and deer hunting, turkey and turkey hunting, turkey call, bowhunter, petersons hunting, petersons bowhunting, idk but alot more lol. prob around 300 -400 total if i counted. idk why i keep em but its just something ive hung on to. i have 5 years straight of kentucky game and fish and still have a three year subscription. probably wasted money but i love reading abiut new gear techniques places. |
RE: Anybody wanna trade?
I have a number of subscriptions, after I read them I give them to one particular friend and/or my nephews who hunt.

My wife is an Escrow Officer in a title company. I donate my magazines to her office. There is just something wrong with having to sit in an office waiting area and having nothing to read but, "People", "Glamour", and "Good Housekeeping". My show of support to the men of the world.

RE: Anybody wanna trade?
You are thinking along the lines of what I do... I like to donate them to doctors offices, hospital waiting rooms, asst. living and the like so people waiting can read them or some of the older people can read them.. Either way though it is alot better than to just put them in the trash bin...
|
RE: Anybody wanna trade?
I'm sending mine to a young man in the forums, here. There's another avenue. if you have old ones lying around.....just ask for someone to PM you with their address. it didn't take long to make happen....and I KNOW they'll be going to a good home.

RE: Anybody wanna trade?
You are right as long as someone can use them why throw them out and the young folks can benefit the most from them...

RE: Anybody wanna trade?
I don't buy them anymore, I can find better information for free on the internet. I haven't read a hunting or home theatre magazine in years.
I used to have stacks of both, and if I still had them you would be welcome to them, but I got rid of them when I moved. Your about a year late buddy;)[:@]. Paul |
RE: Anybody wanna trade?
Paul:
I don't see me buying them anymore, either. I've bought and read and bought and read everything I could get my hands on for the past couple of years......but to be honest....I don't read anything informative in them any more. They're a disappointment 100% of the time. I find 80% of TV shows to be the same way.....but I still like seeing deer. |
RE: Anybody wanna trade?
I quit buying the magazines when I noticed the same stuff over and over again in them. Some of the stories were interesting, but the information was old, and sometimes not even accurate. I feel we have people here that know way more than some of these writers do.
That and you can't get an honest review out of magazine. You ask online and someone will not have a problem telling something is junk and not to waste your money. In print everything is the next greatest innovation. Just once I would like to read an article and have the guy say he wouldn't put it on his bow if he got it for free (which he did most likely). And by the way, I think I gave all my magazines to a local hospital. At least the fairly current ones. Paul |
RE: Anybody wanna trade?
I let most of my subscription run out....same stuff over and over....but I've saved them for another purpose....I bind them together...and test terminal balistics of my rifles with them. They make pretty good bullet traps.
I like the idea of donating them though....might have to do some of that. |

RE: Anybody wanna trade?
All of ours go either up to the hunting camp, or to family members. Its a good idea though GMMAT.

RE: Anybody wanna trade?
Last year there was a local group in front of the neighborhood grocery storethat were collecting items for all of our troops over in the middle east. They had a list of requests from the soldiers and at the top of the list were hunting magazines. I drove home and loaded about 150 old magazines into the truck and they all went to the troops

RE: Anybody wanna trade?
I have a bunch of "Petersen's Bowhunting, "Bowhunter," "Bowhunting World," and "Bow and Arrow Hunting" magazines I will ship in return for someone else's back issues, or maybe something else small like field points or a couple cheap broadheads. My mags are all March 2007 and newer, since I just started buying them a few months ago. PM me if interested in a trade.

RE: Anybody wanna trade?
If we're trading stuff - I've got a Loggy Bayou Climber (2 of them, to be exact) - and a '99 RH, 29" 75#one-cam bow& I would swap any one of thoseitemsfor a decent, working rangefinder or a right handed recurve.
