Jeopardizing your bowhunting passion

I spent pretty much the first 30 years of my life trying to fullfill the need tobe adrenalized. Not anymore and since I broke my back bad in 98 I have really slowed down. I'm glad I have too. I have way to much responsibilty these days to risk it.
-Played Footballtill I was 22, along with baseball and basketball in H.S. Rugby pickup in Montana while in college
-Power Lifted through college..not anymore, not interested in all the mass and power and I don't need it at this stage in life.
-Water Skied a lot/not anymore. None, played softball...none anymore would rather be out in the woods in the summers.
-Racedin a 600 hp, 95-100 mph...3 man crew20 foot Marathon river race Jet boat up the Idaho and Oregon Rivers for 50-70 miles at a time. Was in a very bad wreck on the Salmon river in 92. No more Jet boat racing.
-owned a 1986Yamaha V-max 1200 cc forced air inducted 150 + hp custommotorcyclefor several years, good thing I sold that rocket.
-Still snowmobile but I am really laid back, I do nothing extreme these days. Scared I might get hurt and wouldnt be able to hunt!
-Still Log in the summers like I have since I was 14 years old.Its a dangerous job and I am phasingout of it now. But will keep my equipment around just in case the right job or piece of property comes available.
Even the way I ride a quad is a lot different, heck..the way I drive in general.. I wasone ticketin my 20's from losing my license for speeding.. today..not a one on my record.
I'm really only into hunting andhiking these days outside of family, andlots of it. Not traditionaltrail typehiking, insteadshed hunting-scouting/hiking, itkeeps me feeling good, is something my kids can start doing with meand finding sheds is great exercise in this rugged country out here.

Well
I have not had a drink in 35 years
I drive under the speed limit
.
I have not played a sport since HS that can cause bodly harm.
I lift weights 4 or 5 days a week.
I spend my free time coaching my daughtes soccer and baseball teams(we took first this year
)
I spend most of my summer with my family.
I never go out with the guys
I really live a pretty boring life to some.
Which means I am sure to die of a horrific death since I try to avoid it

I do circuit training with weights, train forand play soccer--indoor currently. I figure that walking and chewing bubble gum can lead to an 'accident', so I stay active, and healthy without worrying about it. The workouts and competition help keep me young, so I figure its at least a trade off.

My job. I do HVAC mainly on custom homes for millionaires outside Chicago. Nearly everyday an accident can happen that will cost me bowhunting among other things.
Just got to keep your head.

Most of my activities are pretty mellow.I exercise every day alternating between light to moderate weight lifting days and lots of time on the mountain bike on the non resistance exercise days. Also lots of time hiking and scouting.I to messed up a shoulder badly a few years ago going heavier than I should have while lifting, fortunately it didn't hamper my season but it could have had it happenned at another time of year.
The closest I ever came to missing archery hunting time is when the lid to the washing machine came down on a finger, the absolute first thought that crossed my mind was not did I just break a finger but is this going to mess up my bow season!

Damn, keep that bike up on two wheels buddy. Glad you are OK. Most bike wrecks occur in the 1st 6 months of riding a bike is what the stats say. I ride, as you well know, and that is a risk we take to live our lives to the fullest. I actually think that my bike adds years to my life instead of taking them away as it is a great stress reliever.

Duc,
If you are having close calls on a bike, you are not paying attention, enough.
Things I do that jepordize my season?

I also ride on the street, which is way more dangerous
