Best head for a ground hog field or broadhead
Hey everyone,
I was asked by my wife's grandmother to nuetralize a groundhog on her property. I has become a really pita and has become un afraid of humans and has come right out near them while bbq'ing. any help would be greatly appreciated. Once I get it I will post a trophy picture HAHA. It would be my first kill ever with a bow. Andrew |

You can use any of the three basic points.....
Broad-Head Judo/Grasshopper Field Tip I would go with a Judo or a Field Tip if I was you. That is what I use for small game with my bow. Good Luck:) |

I'd definitely go with a broadhead.Groundhogs are real tough critters and although a fieldpoint will kill them,I've seen them take to their holes many times with an arrow in them.Judo points--that wouldn't even be a consideration

I'd say go with a pointed field tip or a smaller fixed bladed broadhead (NAP Nitron's are nice), for the same reasons Jim stated

The G5 small game head. No question that is what you want to use, or a broadhead. Definetly not a fieldpoint or judo point.

Bear Razorheads or Razorhead Lite for that size critter. They fly as good as or better than any other broadhead on the market. At $15 per 3-pack, they don't hurt your feelings nearly as bad when you hit a rock on the other side of the perforated groundhog.

You might consider using one of those Adder washers in between the broadhead and insert to limit penetration. I used these on a turkey back in May with very good results. Arrow really gets stuck in them. Tough for a big bird or large varmint to run off with a broadhead still stuck in them.

thanks for the information. A friend is going to give me a few of his used crimson talons. He also agrees to use a broadhead instead of a field point.

def. broadhead. Had bad experiences only using a field tip.
