This is a great idea. I like Jeff and Justin's idea of making it voluntary. If you make it mandatory you may lose people in the contest. I think there would be enough guys here that would pledge that it does not need to be mandatory.

I like Gr8's idea to about pledging an amount per inch. This will satisfy all crowds in that the "meat" hunters won't get banged in the wallet if they want to donate, and the QDM guys will want to make sure their donation is sufficient so that's another reason to hold out for Mr. Big. Win, win.

I like it.

GR8's $.00/inch is good. That way....the charity gets the money as soon as the buck is taken. If a team wanted to, collectively, "guarantee" (_____) inches/dollars...they could feel free to do so.

GMMAT, I agree that someone from each team needs to collect the funds and then send them in as a group, whether right to the charity, or to someone from here, and then all the checks in at once to the charity of choice. With all the members on this site, we could be looking at a pretty substantial sum of money getting donated.

I think Justin is also on the right track in keeping it out of the main contest. A separate thread should be started just for the charity contest, whether it is by team or not.

Can easily work that way, too. NOT an issue. We need to make this EASY!

And this wouldn't be a "contest".....it's a "pledge". Sounds less "contesty", to me.

Hell yeah, I'm in!

I'll take it a step further and donate a trip my camp as well. It may be hard to do a hunting trip because of the age laws up here, but if they accept it I could do a fishing trip.

I'm in. I really don't care who we donate to as long as it's a Charitable Organization. My preference would be toward something hunting or children related.

I since the idea is for teams. Maybe we could consider something like this.

The team who meets theirgoals best is the winner:

Each person sets a goal and an amount (lets set arange on this maybe $5-20).
Each person sponsors one person on each team other then their own team.Sponsors can be drawn froma hat (one hat for each team) or from a random program. Moderators can select sponsers.
The winning team membersstill donate their amount.
All others pay the amount set by their winning sponsors and alsopay their own amount.
This way everyone entered will still donate.
I'm really with GR8atta2d on opinion that we should not make individual goals not to give.

Also, let's not just go by antler points. That would restrict this to trophy hunters. I'd prefer mine to be 2 deer taken with my traditional equipment.

Bob:

That's comlicated!

Here's an example of how easy this can be.

GMMAT pledges to:

$1 an inch....if I shoot "The bull"
OR
Pledge that my team will donate at least $100 (I'll make up the difference).
OR
$5/doe

I'll donate the HIGHEST amount/scenario.

GMMAT, I honestly don't understand your example. Could you explain further?

Yeah, Bob....

$1 an inch....if I shoot "The bull"
If I shoot the only buck I'm officially targeting this year....I'll donate $1/inch of antler. That'll likely be a $100 or so. I'd gladly write that check in celebration.

or

Pledge that my team will donate at least $100 (I'll make up the difference).
If the other guys on my team only donate $50 between them....I'll make up the other $50.

or

$5/doe
Self-explanatory.....but I hope to shoot 8-10.

I'll pay the highest scenario that unfolds.
