I used some a few years ago and they were never hit, actually to be honest, I never saw a deer even come close to them, they changed the deers movement behaviors for some reason, the only deer cane I have found that works as advertised is the Black Magic. But be careful, the sweet smell may attract bears.

I have had hogs and cattle come in to the deer cane but no deer.

I have used it with some success. What I have found that is you will make a small whole so it will cach water and mix some of the dirt back around the block it works. Some of these blocks are too strong and so you need to mix them with the soil. I have a spot behind the house that the deer have dug out and I throw a block in there now and then. They do come by on a regular basis to lick it and eat the dirt.

I've used Deer Cane (also on sale) on an older saltlick.
Will it turn your deer herd into a bunch of $2 crackwh#$%? No.
It works like any other salt/mineral lick. It can be good for helping
pattern the deer in the summer months and getting them to a certain
area, but don't expect it to bring in deer at daylight during the season.

As said above, make a hole and get it started with some water.
You want it to leach into the soil like any other salt block.

My favorite marketing of all time is the Warning in big red letters on deer cane written in serious terms.
It goes something like this:

WARNING: DO NOT STAND BETWEEN THE DEERCANE AND THE DEER OR SERIOUS INJURY MAY OCCUR.

The exact quote is better, but it cracks me up every time I read it.
