I hunt private property that my family owns. What about everyone else?

I hunt where ever I can!;) I lease private land, about 300 acres and I hunt alot of public land. The public land I hunt is pretty good considering, especially since I bow hunt. One area is nearly 3,000 acres and managed well for wildlife.

Private land that I have permission to hunt and some public land. The split is probably about 80% private and 20% public I hunt

Same here... 75% public land (National Forest) and 25% private land (overlooking a pasture which butts up against the nat'l forest).

I actually hunt all 4, probably 50% family owned, 25% lease/permission, 25% public.

While on this subject, what would you think would be a reasonable price to pay to lease an area, lets say 100 acres half wooded half farm land?

Not knowing how strong the herd is or what quality the buck are on it. The only deer I see around it look as though they came from a neighboring farm that is posted no hunting.

99% of the time I hunt public land. On a rare occasionsomebody might invite me to hunt private land.

I hunt private land and leased land, about 600 acres that i have permission and another 250 that i dont! all of it is great. I hunt about 300 acrelease as well. a little public here and there

All but lease. I own land, my Dad owns land, my cousins own land. My neighbor lets me hunt his land, my friend owns land, I have permission to hunt nearby farms, and I live next to national forests. You can never have too many possibilities. I just don't lease land because I'd rather find free access. I'm cheap, or broke, or both.

Almost exclusively public land. Things are different here in Utah, there is not nearly as much land available for sell or lease as in other places, so the ratio of public land to private land is much higher here. If you know the right places to go though there are plenty of nice bucks to hunt.

I hunt mostly thatever fragile "Private land w/ Permission" category........unfortunately through changing of hands and one unreasonable landowner I have lost my 3 best spots over the last 7 years.

I'm still clinging to a couple others that I share with other huntersbut those excusive rights honey hole type places are so rare here in PA. I had em' and I miss em':(

I hunt 98% public land. One weekend of the year I rifle hunt private land, but other than that it's public for me. I've taken 4 deer on public landin the past 2 seasons, so I guess im doing something right.

As a Methodist pastor, I get lots of land to hunt all over my state. I am blessed with lots of keys to lots of gates.

I hunt all private with permission, but this year I am going to try my luck on a few tracts of public land. I am more or less preparing for the future because the private with permission is a very fragile thing, land changes ownership or people come in and tie it up in a lease. So I figure I better get to know some of the public land in the area so when the day comes that I cant be as lucky as i am now, it wont be a big shock to me and I will feel confident on some public ground.

In Nv. the gov. owns about 70% of the state BLM DOI Forest service Its all public land hunts except maybe 10,000 acres of farms 150 here 150 there 150 miles apart.

i do about 50/50 public land and private land i gain permission to hunt. the only land we own is the back yard...hard for a deer to get in a 6ft fence:D

while at college i mainly hunt public land. i tried finding private land up there but it seemed impossible. i put 150miles on the truck (80 there and back and 70 driving around up there) and couldnt find anything. lotttts of land...but its alllll crops so large i cant track down a land owner...some didnt have any woods...some woods were so large i couldnt find a land owner...even without posted signs i still wont hunt private land w/o permission. other places are hunted so hard it was visible from the road.

looks like i will stick with my public land hunting while at college...i got 2 state parks and a couple state gamelands within a 25min drive..2 game lands are 11 and 9k acres..the state parks are LARGE...i only hunted one of the gamelands last year...didnt think of my other options:eek:

here at home i got permission to hunt a small private apple orchard and a bunch of other land/farmland. im good friends with a farmer and he gets me connections...

I wasn't sure how to answer this one as I hunt privately owned paper company land that the public can use..No permission needed at this time..
