I sometimes think a lot of people forget this...

The kill is the satisfying, indeed essential, conclusion to a successful hunt. But, I take no pleasure in the act itself. One does not hunt in order to kill, but kills in order to have hunted. Then why do I hunt? I hunt for the same reason my well-fed cat hunts...because I must, because it is in the blood, because I am the descendent of a thousand generations of hunters. I hunt because I am a hunter. - Finn Aagard

"a hunt based only on trophies taken falls far short on what the ultimate goal should be...time to commune with your inner soul as you share the outdoors with the birds, animals, and fish that live there." -Fred Bear

I hunt because I can, not so I have something to talk about.
Thats a quote by me.

I do not fully understand why I am like I am with hunting. It is everything about it, not just one or even a few things. I was not taught to be like this when I was a child. For the most part I amself taught over quite a few years, but afew withDad and uncles. But not many. None of them hunt now or have for 20+ years.
I huntedvirtually everything in season when growing up, by myself or withone buddy. Never have gotten over it. Sometimes it feels like it isa burden to like it so much and to balance a family, responsibility, and my life in general.
I knowwe joke around and simplify thingsaboutkilling and everything that goes along with it.But there is just something about it that happens everyyear. Maybe I can explain itwhen it getscloser to the Fall of the year. I will not be able to sit still.
