Went to check the trail cam...**EDITED 6-16 BUCK PICS!!**
And I said to myself....I'll take the digital camera this time. Before I made it to the patch of woods I jumped this guy. He ran out to about 40yds and then I snapped this picture when he was about 10yds. He had about 6inch cpikes going straight up. He had a pretty good size body. How old do you think he is.

what do you think age wise on these deer? Everything seems to be behind down here. The does are dropping late and the bucks seem to be behind a little.

My guess is that they are yearling bucks. Lack any sort of mass and very short, even for this early stage to be much in the horn department this season.

Looks like 1 to 2 yr olds right now coug looks like most of the lil ones i am seeing around here i know they arent three year olds yet 2 at the oldest. They should be about as big as the buck you shot in the gun contest last year or maybe a tad bit larger

this guy right here is who i want to see this comming year. As far as I know he didn't get killed last year. He could be REAL nice this year. How old do you think he is in this picture?

I agree that that last deer is 3.5 (maybe even oder). I'll tell ya, cougs.....thats a good deer in anyone's woods.
IL.....You can't use your deer as a barometer for all others. Yes....they're both "deer"......but as much so as a Wahoo and a rainbow trout are both "fish". There's several reasons our deer (in cougs and my region of the US) aren't as big as the midwest deer (on average). Rob can't believe the (small) size of our deer, here (just in body size). Can't tell anything on the first photos. Too early. |

that looks like a 3.5 cougs he should make the books this year witht he right nutrition. Hes gonna be a tough one to kill though at 4.5. I have a 4.5 running around one of my spots and hes is just about nocturnal even during the rut. I am moving into a feild adjoinging the ridge this year and it should be alot better for bow and gun hunting
