RE: If you could change your state's deer season
ORIGINAL: HuntingBry ORIGINAL: quiksilver ORIGINAL: rybohunter These are my favorite posts, I love setting the rules! First off, sunday hunting would be allowed. 1. Archery would run Oct 1 thru Jan 31. 2. Gun season would run the saturday after thanksgiving to the following sunday. (9 days) 3. Early ML and youth/senoir special rifle would be eliminated 4. 3 weeks following the close of gun season, the flintlock/Xbowseason would open for14 days. (saturday start, sunday close) regardless of when Xmas fell. I'll add that Bear Season should include at least one weekend day (not deer-related, just a peeve of mine), and that the antler restriction should be expanded to 4 points, statewide. I AGREE WITH THE THREE OF YOU, MAYBE ALSO ADD 2WEEKS AT THE BEGINNING SAY SEPT 15TH!!! |
RE: If you could change your state's deer season
I like Illinois dates except for the rediculous firearm season in the middle of January. Each year there are a few bucks killed during that "antlerless" season.[:@]

Stop baiting in Northern Wi and stop Earn a Buck in CWD.

RE: If you could change your state's deer season
In New York,I would break up and shorten the rifle season at least by half.It is currently about a month long.Archery and muzzleloader I would leave as is,A bowhunter can begin to hunt on 10/15 (southern tier) and go through about 12/20.That is plenty of time to fill tags.I would institute an earn a buck program in units where the doe populations are very high,I would impose a one buck limit per year, and I would put in place4 point per side antler restrictions for the entire state.
No one wake me up I like this dream! |
